"Come on," you say to her softly. "Let's cool down in the water."
You sit down in the tub and look at Daphne. She reluctantly gets into the tub and sits in the bubbling water. She looks at you with distrusting eyes.
"I'm an asshole, okay?" you say.
"You are," she says simply.
"Regardless, I didn't mean to hurt anyone," you continue.
"You're still an ass," she says.
"I know, I know," you say as you see the tension in her shoulders drop. "Can you forgive me?"
"I don't know," she says.
"How can I show you that I'm better than just some asshole?" you ask.
"You can apologize to that girl," she says.
"Really? You think that would make a difference at this point?"
"Maybe. At least she wouldn't think that you're an ass for the rest of her life."
"Maybe," you say. "Or maybe I already fucked up too badly anyway."
Daphne shrugs.
"What else can I do?" you ask.
"You can leave," she says with her eyes looking down at the bubbles on the surface of the water.
- Reach out and touch Daphne's leg
- Lift Daphne's chin so you can look into her eyes
- Get up and leave Daphne's beach house
