You decide to advance down the left side of the wall because, why not? You can always return up the right side if you don't find anything.
As you sidestep to your left while keeping your hands on the wall, you hear the voice getting louder. Not because you're getting closer but because something else is. Something in the middle of this giant room and you can sense it. It's something big. The voice, a girl's one, is now shouting warnings instead of pleas. A shudder runs down your spine.
Eventually your hip hits off something. You put your hands on it and run them up on down it. Judging by the sounds of items falling to the floor, it's a table.
Quickly, you feel around it with your hands, hoping for a flashlight or a switch of some sort. Eventually your hand close around something that feels very like a torch. You search for a button and find one.
You freeze just as you're about to click it on. It's right beside you, whatever 'it' is. You can almost feel it. The girl is now screaming at you to get out of there.
Hardly breathing, you try to think about your options but your brain has frozen along with the rest of your body. You can't see the thing, but you know it's rearing up, getting ready to attack. You have seconds to act.
