Looking in your neighbor's apartment, you know that there is obviously something wrong. You pull your cellphone out and dial 911. The operator answers, asking what your emergency is. In a panic, you begin to explain the situation to her. As soon as you begin talking, you hear movement coming from inside the apartment.
A man in a blood stained t-shirt comes running from the living room area. His face is cut down the left side and looks lifeless yet angry. He locks his cold eyes on you as he sprints in your direction. You drop the phone and run towards the stairwell, tripping over Jason as you move. You fall to the floor with your cousin.
The blood stained man, joined with two others, come out of the apartment and are immediately attacking you and Jason. Fortunately you guys are able to fight them off long enough to get back to your feet. You start running towards the stairs again. Your heart races as you move as fast as you can to the door, Jason only a step or two behind you. As you push open the door to the stairwell, you hear Jason scream from behind you.
You turn around to see Jason on the floor again, one of the men has ahold of his ankle. You run back and kick the man in the face as hard as you can, knocking his grip on Jason loose. You pull Jason back to his feet and help him through the doorway, slamming it closed behind you. You push all of your weight against the door, holding the men back. There is a mop bucket in the corner of the landing you are on. You have Jason bring you the mop from it and you snap it in half.
You take the shortest end, with the mop head on it, and jam it under the door. It acts as a doorstop and holds the doorway shut. You are unsure of how long that will last so you decide you better get out of there as fast as you can. You start heading down the stairs and the entire time Jason is howling in pain. When you make it to the landing on the next floor down you stop to see what is wrong with Jason.
He has a big scratch on his back from one of the men tackling him and clawing him on their way down. There is also a bloody bite mark on his leg. No wonder he was screaming before you got the man off of him. It looks like it hurt pretty badly. He may need some medical attention. Either way, you should probably get out of the stairwell as soon as possible.
