"The Yoshi Bodyguards in Lemon Lime Time..." is a Yoshi Bodyguards story by Topmonhit that involves the explanation of some strange dark mist and a mysterious character known as Meta Top.

Story
Pre-Story Notes
Before the actual story began, the YB had began to be attacked by some mysterious dark mist. It had appeared on at least four occasions, possessing a Mr. Blizzard, Blooper, Piranha Plant and Lakeep. Every time they were possessed, they became dark and often grew in size. Someone began to mysteriously appear at the same time, helping the YB defeat these creatures. He was like Meta Knight, only brown with a green mask. He was known as Meta Top. Over the first half of the year, these strange occurances occured. During these events, Sneen did some research onsome samples and modified some Phazon Rifles from earlier events to work against the dark mist; he also began work on a grenade of a similar nature.
The Story Begins
One day, a massive Rex appeared to the YB HQ. It was dark and had the appearance of a Tyrannosaurus Rex; Oshy asked Sneen if he had finished the anti-dark mist grenade, and Sneen said he was almost done. For the time being, they worked on keeping it from getting to the HQ, although a shockwave damaged it somewhat. During the battle, Sneen's Cruiser flew out and blasted a grenade at the Rex; the resulting explosion countered the dark mist and brought the Rex back to normal. The Rex then left. Later that night, some Dark Koopatrols that were darker than normal appeared and tried to kidnap Top; Top bashed them with his hammer, then Sneen came out revealing he had modified some Phazon Rifles to work against the dark mist. Unfortunately, it did not work against them for some reason. Top ended up becoming Bomb Top and blasting them so much they were forced to retreat.
There was a short scene from the future, in which a meteor crashed near Koopa Village, and dark mist began to possess the inhabitants...
The next day, a Wayoshi was outside the HQ, walking around and eating stuff. Suddenly dark mist appeared and zapped the Wayoshi into a Dayoshi (or just Dark Wayoshi). They all went to battle it, while Top stayed in the HQ since the Dark Koopatrols from before appeared to have been trying to kidnap him. Although they were able to bring the Wayoshi back to normal, during that time a bunch of Dark Koopatrols kidnapped Top, so they had to hurry after them. They eventually found a large, floating, dark castle that they entered; inside they were attacked by a large group of Dark Koopatrols and Dark Magikoopas. At first, there seemed to be too many to beat, but then Meta Top suddenly appeared, blasting them away with a Sword Beam!
He told them to hurry, and they hurried into a large room where suddenly Top was slammed into Oshy out of nowhere, after which Morton Koopa Sr. arrived. A battle occured, which ended prematurely when a clock-device was broken by Meta Top's sword. Everyone began floating in the room as it glowed brighter and brighter until suddenly there was a flash of light and everyone disappeared.
The Future
Another scene from the future showed in the year 2025, Star World was dark and barren. Peach's Castle was destroyed. Suddenly Oshy and his brothers ran by along with an Princess Apricot Gisho and some other Yoshis. Following them were a large army of Dark Koopatrols. The army gained closer and closer until Jalapeno suddenly spoke up, telling them to go on ahead and he would stay to ward them off, even though he would surely perish. The other Yoshis made it to the spaceship, but Jalapeno disappeared...
The YB found themselves at a dark and barren wasteland... Meta Top said it was the year 2027. Mack began to panic for some reason, while PB felt sorry for himself. Meta Top told them to stop, as a massive army of Dark Koopatrols was heading their way. They escaped, going to the Vanilla Dome of the future, and entered a secret cave where the last line of defense against Morton was located, which had Noshum, Vivian, the brain of E. Gadd, Dr. Raichu, Danny, Pikachup, Mysteria. Meta Top explained that Morton took over Star World two years earlier, in 2027. It was also officially revealed Meta Top was Top in the future. Meta Top continued to reveal that they were wrong about Morton being dead, and that most creatures on Star World were now possessed.
One of the worst parts of it was that Morton did not use th Dark Mist to possess yoshis; he simply mass murdered them all. Everyone decided that was it, he had to be stopped. Meta Top knew he had a time machine in his castle, but they need to come up with a plan... everyone began to meet their future selves: Dr. Pikachu was now Dr. Raichu, Danny and Pichup had evolved, Oshy and his brothers along with Yoshi had escaped the planet, although Sneen was nowhere to be found. The Stuffwell of the future no longer worked, nor did Top's Star Ship. The future PB had lost most of his energy... anyway, suddenly Mack came back and stuff.
Meanwhile, in Meta Top's room, Top asked Meta Top what was with him. Meta Top revealed what was under his mask, and then told Top the story of how a meteor hit Popstar at a family reunion he was at. Everyone but he was killed; he went into hiding, training and stuff, until he learned that Star World was under attack. He later realized that it was Morton's fault the meteor had hit; Meta Top then got a plan. Apparently E. Gadd had some some calculations, and figured out the general area where the meteor Morton was on in the past was. Thus, everyone began to get ready: They were going into Morton's Castle and going back to their time! Sneen said he fixed up the Star Ship, but it would probably crash after a few minutes; Meta Top said that was all they needed. Meta Top's plan was that Top would place something in the ability function of it to give it the Burning ability, then jump out and let it crash into the castle. The guards would go see what it was, allowing them to sneak in.
Future Scenes
Future Scene 1
It was a peaceful day in Koopa Village... everything was fine. A young, light purple Bob-Omb ran by. Suddenly... CRAAAASH!!! Something huge landed in the nearby forest. Kooper, being the mayor, went up to find out what happened. Hours passed... and more hours... and more, and more, and more, and no one knew what happened. Suddenly, Kooper's door opened. It.... was..... Kooper... with Koopatrol armor... and seemed darker than normal. And ever since then, Koopa Village... and Star World... wasn't the same.
Future Scene 2
There's a barren wasteland with the sky dark... everything... dark. The remains of a castle is there... it's... Peach's Castle! Suddenly some Yoshis run by. It's Oshy and his brothers, Yoshi, an unidentified pink Yoshi with blue shoes, and any other Yoshis in the YB that went with them. They were followed by an army of Dark Koopatrols. "HURRY! THEY'RE GAINING!" Oshy yelled. It seemed that the Dark Koopatrols would get them before they got to where they were heading. Jalapeno spoke up, "Oshy, everyone, you go on ahead, I'll keep them busy." "No. You won't survive..." Yisho told him. Jalapeno responded, "I'd rather die a hero than run away and we all die." "Well then I'll stay here and help," Yisho told him. "No... you go ahead. You're the oldest..." Jalapeno told him. Yisho nodded as tears began to form, and they all ran. Wow. All that happened but the Dark Koopatrols didn't get to them. Anyway, everyone but Jalapeno got to their destination: A spacecraft. Yisho stopped to look back and see if Jalapeno might be coming, but when the Dark Koopatrol Army came into view, he got in and the Spacecraft blasted off right when the Dark Koopatrols got there.
Future Scene 3
It was a normal day on Popstar... normal except for all the Kirbys gathered around for the Hit family reunion. The Hit family, with the odd name, being the family Top is a part of: Top Mon Hit. He and his parents, his brother, and some other Kirbys were talking around and joking. "He certainly has become famous," his mother, Kathleen Hit said. "Yeah, thanks to him, I'm not even evil anymore and out of prison!" added his brother, Mot Hit. "He's also matured quite a bit," his father, Tom Hit, said. "Wait... NOES! I'M MATURING! OMGZOMGZOMGZ!" Top began to run around in rhombuses while saying that. Suddenly a Kirby on a stand spoke up, "Attention, you all know why we're here, and it's not to eat all the food. It's for a family reunion... wait... what's that?" Everyone looked up at the sky where something large was coming... it looked like a meteor... suddenly, without warning, the meteor landed and everyone began to run wildly. Top scrambled to find his parents or brother, when he was suddenly knocked out by something.
How long passed? An hour? A few hours? 20 hours? A few days? Top woke up... and began to look around. He saw nothing. Everything was destroyed... and then... he saw something. What he saw made tears come out of his eyes... he stood for about 2 minutes... and then ran, not to be seen again for 10 years...
Trivia
- The Rex mentioned that he was looking for someone; that someone was Apricot, as he worked for Rexor. It was, in fact, a vague foreshadowing of Apricot and Rexor, who had not yet appeared.
- The term "Doshi" came from a very old YB story involving zombie Yoshis called Doshis.
Connections to Other Stories
- Mot's mention of him being out of jail is a reference to Tihnompot: Witchy Fury, which would come nearly 2 years later.
