Dark Top is a big meany. He is, as can be inferred by his name, the dark side of Top. He's that little devil guy that pops up next to Top's shouder, only he's not a devil because that's a stupid religion reference, so instead he's just a darker-colored Top. Despite this, he's quite different from Top, having attempted to take over the world and run evil groups multiple times. His mortal enemy is Light Top, the light side of Top, but at the same time he has to prevent Light Top from dying or he too will die. Usually when he's stuck inside Top with Light Top they'll form a truce of Dark Top will only make Top do petty things like steal cookies.

Top Story Bio
Top’s Dark Side (who knew he had one?) is quite evil. He’s not odd like Top is, but that may be because he’s too busy trying to take over the universe due to him being pure dark. He first split from Light Top when Top went to some planet long, long ago and then later was at Hachacha. After Hachacha, Dark Top went to Popstar or a planet nearby where he ran into Dark Sneezier and together they created Darkcorp. Yeah so time passed and Dark Top got sick of Dark Sneezier and left, strangely enough not too long before Darkcorp was defeated. After that he created Federation of Evil Acquaintances, or FOEA. That featured him, Cackletta, Fawful, Grunty, Sandbag (yes, he was evil), Dark Matter, Missingno., King Boo, and later, Metal Top. Time passed and Metal Top blew up FOEA (betraying them like everyone else) and FOEA ended. Dark Top went into hiding until he stole the Black Chaos Emerald, a Chaos Emerald full of evil, and using the combination of that and the Master Emerald’s power battled Top who had the Choas Emeralds until they merged together, destroying the Black Chaos Emerald. Dark Top was quiet (he had a truce with Light Top) until Cackletta, Fawful and Grunty kidnapped Top and was able to have Dark Top take control of Top. However Dark Top was again defeated and has been stuck in Top since.
History
First Split
When Top went to Mintop while exploring the universe, not long after he left he accidently swallowed a dark liquid which caused his light and dark halves to split. Dark Top immediately ran, while Light Top was knocked out for some reason. Finally free to do things without Light Top to bother him, the first thing he decided to do was to bother Light Top. It seemed Light Top hadn't figured out he had split from Dark Top for some reason, so he hid in Top's Star Ship until they were both in space and Dark Top began to attack him.
The two of them wrestled for a bit until they went careening through a portal and landed at Hachacha; Dark Top caused some trouble at first, but soon after left to go about his evil deeds without Light Top's interference. He left to Popstar, where he came across Dark Sneezier, who had recently robbed the first national bank of Dreamland. (Interesting note, I believe this is before their light halves ever met.) They then did away with a local crime boss, Ab Pacone, and took over his organization.
The Yoshi Bodyguards
Darkcorp
After several hostile takeovers--of which Dark Top mostly just watched, as he wasn't good with the world of finance and economies--they formed Darkcorp, an evil megacorporation. Dark Top was the Vice CEO, but paid little to the business side of things and often went around causing chaos and destruction for The Yoshi Bodyguards after he found out his light side had joined them; strangely enough, Dark Sneezier's light side had as well. However, as time went on, things became shaky for the corporaton, and before it even dissolved, Dark Top left, taking his share of the money for his own plans...
Federation of Evil Acquaintances

Dark Top began to do some research on the YB and found several other villains who had failed in plots against them, so he contacted them all and began a new evil group known as FOEA, or Federation of Evil Acquaintances, which had Cackletta, Fawful, Gruntilda Winkybunion, Sandbag, Dark Matter, Missingno., and King Boo; later, Metal Top joined, though Dark Top was suspicious. Unlike Darkcorp, this group focused more on taking over worlds and evilness than business and stuff. Generally, however, their group was overshadows by another group of evil that had taken shape, the Confederation of United Evil. Dark Top didn't let this stop him, however, and decided to use this overshadowing to his adventage.
Somehow, FOEA gained possession of Yoshi. Apparently, no one was paying attention to him. Instead of using him as a ransom like everyone else does, he gave him to COUE as a gift, knowing this would distract the YB long enough for FOEA to easily kidnap Peach. Once they had Peach, they left Star World to go take over a planet much easier to invade--Animal World, the world of Animal Crossing. Once they had that in their grasp, they used a powerful artifact, the Shadow Gyroid, to threaten The Mushroom Kingdom--surrender, or Peach would be possessed. There was no response, so Dark Top had the Shadow Gyroid possess Peach and that somehow gave FOEA control over The Mushroom Kingdom.
FOEA returned to Star World sans King Boo--Bloo, who was working for King Boo, suggested he stay on Animal World in case the plan fails. Dark Top liked the idea, so they stayed while the rest of FOEA went to their newly taken-over kingdom. Then, Dark Top sent some members of FOEA (including Metal Top) to steal the Beanstar from The Beanbean Kingdom, but apparently the YB stopped them and then came to FOEA's castle; FOEA was then defeated, and Dark Top remerged with Light Top.
Now inside Top, Dark Top could observe all that Top did, but this will not be stated in this article, as it is in Top's article. FOEA later returned and was able to give Dark Top the power to control Top, but Oshy was able to foil this plan by finding a cure; luckily for Dark Top, the cure caused him to split from Light Top and he continued to run FOEA.
When The Dark Ages came to Star World, FOEA left for Rareworld to continue their operations there. They made a new base at Gruntilda's Lair, and Dark Top located a Dark Chaos Emerald, but when some YBs consisting of at least Top and Oshy appeared, Dark Top tried to blast them out with it, but accidently destroyed the lair and Top and Oshy got the Dark Chaos Emerald. FOEA then left once more, now moving to a space station, but when Metal Top stole the Beanstar they somehow had from them, FOEA finally split, and Dark Top went into hiding.
Dark Chaos
Dark Top began to keep tabs on the YB, planning to take back the Dark Chaos Emerald, and decided to make his move when Metal Sonic attempted to take over the Mushroom Kingdom with the seven Chaos Emeralds. He snuck on board his ship when the YB went up there, and when they were about to try and use the Dark Chaos Emerald, Dark Top made his move as Ninja Dark Top and stole it. He then used it to telepot away; unfortunately, he telepoted right between Knuckles the Echidna and Slike F. Elion, who were fighting over the Master Emerald.
He got both punched and slashed at the same time, and dropped the Dark Chaos Emerald. It landed on the Master Emerald, and the Chaos Creature absorbed it, becoming dark. It then zoomed off into space, leaving Dark Top there to hide. Soon after, however, it returned, bringing back chaos energy with it; he jumped into the energy and absorbed it himself, turning into a hyper form. He tried to blast the YB to pieces, but his light side used the Chaos Emeralds' positive energy to turn super and they fought out in space. Although Light Top couldn't win, he was able to force them to merge back into Top, after which they decided to make a truce.
Return of FOEA
For the next year or so, Dark Top and Light Top remained in Top, but when Top was possessed by a dark spirit named Darkost, it and Dark Top joined up, and Darkost left enough darkness inside Top for Dark Top to take control. Although it seemed to work at first, the YB came with a star jewel and trapped Darkost inside, causing the darkness to leave Top. Dark Top and Light Top began to fight for control until Top was kidnapped by Fawful, Cackletta and Grunty.
These three then used some leftover darkness from Darkost to give Dark Top control of Top again, then Dark Top announced the return of FOEA. They were only able to get Dark Matter and Missingno. back, and also got Dark Meta Knight to help. They sent Dark Matter to possess King Dedede and have him proclaim all Kirbys to be jailed, so the YB went there to stop him; Dark Top appeared, revealing to them that FOEA was coming back, then left them to fight Metal O2 as he went to begin his actual plan.
The star jewel that held Darkost was given to Wiggly Jr., a wiggler whose father had fought Darkost years ago. FOEA attacked Wiggly Jr.'s home and stole the jewel, then went to kidnap Yoshi. Once they had both of these, they waited for the YB to come and then trapped them in a cage; they then used Missingno. to allow Darkost to escape and then possess Yoshi. Although things looked bleak, the YB somehow escaped and began to attack the villains; in the end, the YB fought Cackletta, Darkost and Dark Top, but FOEA lost and Dark Top lost his total control over Top. He and Light Top ended their truce and began to attack one another again inside Top.
Topmonhit Story
Dark Top would return later in the year when Cackletta, Fawful and Grunty gained the ability to take control of others' dreams; they used this to split Dark and Light Top, and Dark Top kidnapped Light Top. Knuckles, who was at Top's House (due to the recent stealing of the Master Emerald), was also kidnapped when he tried to stop them. They then made it appear Dark Top was bruised and damaged, and threw him back into Top's House so that he could try and steal the Magic Paintbrush. He was able to, but not without the heroes finding out, and they soon came to Tubba Blubba's Castle.
However, there were a large number of other villains there as well, and a huge battle began. Dark Top fought Light Top, of course, and in the end he decided to blast him away by mixing the Fountain of Dreams Star Rod with the Magic Paintbrush and blasting him away. They then activated a machine that allowed them to take control of the entire planets' dreams, so the YB (and non-YBs) escaped. Dark Top remained on Star World while the other villains went to get more items for their plan, but it was obvious that Cackletta was running this plan, not Dark Top.
Eventually the heroes returned to try and save Star World, but Dark Top did no fighting against them; instead, they were defeated by Slike, and Dark Top was put in charge of guarding their cage. Unfortunately for him, he was blasted by a bomb from Parnky and knocked out until all the heroes had escaped. There was to be another huge battle when suddenly the machine went haywire and Metal Top appeared, revealing to have taken control of it. During its monologue, however, Dark and Light Top deactivated the machine; Metal Top escaped, and the castle and everything fell apart.
Dark Top, however, was able to escape merging with Light Top, and no one knows what happened to him since.
