Rening is a Butterfree from Viridian Forest who, unlke normal Butterfree, is white instead of purple. This is due to his ancestor being a light Butterfree that once saved the Pokéworld from an evil Mew demon, and the spirit of his ancestor lives inside him. Literally or not? Who knows. He has a strong and pure heart, and dislikes any evil. And Topmonhit thinks he's kind of boring, unfortunately.

Top Story Bio
Rening was just a regular white Butterfree until some time after Topper met him. It turned out that Rening has the spirit of a 5000 year old Butterfree in him and Rening and the spirit had gone out to fight a 5000 year old demon spirit named Nocktor who had tried to destroy the planet 5000 years ago. Rening won, then he and Topper went back to Viridian Forest. Topper left, then after a while Rening met a Yoshi named Asmodeus and a Grovyle named Zar. They gave Rening a Polmo berry, which, when a Pokemon eats, they can like speak and stuff. He then met the YB a few times, then had to battle Nocktor again. He really only used 1 attack since the YB had been fighting him earlier.
History
Rening's Ancestor
Many, many years ago--about 5000 years ago--a dark Mew demon named Nocktor attempted to destroy the Pokéworld. Although nearly every legendary in existance then banded together to stop it, it wasn't enough. Just then, a white Butterfree appeared; somehow, it used a light-type Hidden Power to damage the dark Mew demon. After a struggle, the other legendaries joined in, and eventually the dark Mew was destroyed--or so it was thought.
The Return of Nocktor
5000 years later, a descendant of that Butterfree, Rening, was born. He didn't know it at first, but he would eventually do what his ancestor did those many centuries ago. One day, a Hitmontop showed up, and introduced himself as Topper. Topper began to live with Rening for a while until suddenly Rening felt a powerful urge to go somewhere.
