History

Richards Motor Company was formed in 1955 by EJR Manufacturing. Work on the first car began in 1957. Their first car, the RMC Mark 1, was ready for production by 1960. The Mark 1 was a lower lever luxury car. However, RMC Motors decided to delay production due to market changes. Originally, they were going to redesign the Mark 1 but, by 1962, decided on designing a smaller, cheaper car.

RMC planned on manufacturing a mid-sized car but work did not begin until the next year. However, development stopped in mid 1964 due to the pony car being introduced. RMC decided to stop developing cars and see where the market was going with the pony car. However, most of the designers left RMC for other companies.

By 1968, RMC had decided to enter the muscle car race. By 1969, RMC had enough resources to design a new car. The design was completed in 1971 and the RMC Hurricane was unveiled in 1972. The reception was mostly positive, however, RMC was losing money fast and could not even afford to produce the Hurricane. By 1973, the Hurricane was canceled and RMC officially closed in 1975.

In 2001, EJR Manufacturing wanted to expand into the vehicle market again but plans were set aside. In 2004, EJR Manufacturing registered the Richards Motor Company as a new company. Designing of the new vehicle began in 2006. Several designs were thought of and EJR Manufacturing eventually decided to make a car that would rival the new Mustang and Camaro. Soon after, EJR decided to name the car the RMC Hurricane.

By mid 2008, gas prices were at record highs and RMC realized that it would be a poor time to put the Hurricane into production. The Hurricane was put on delay again and still is. The RMC Hurricane has yet to be reviled to the public and it is rumored that a working full size version was made and is located at a EJR Manufacturing plant.
