Swazer (born David Chinonso Nwaeze on 26 May 2007) is a Nigerian Afrobeat and R&B singer-songwriter known for his emotional lyricism, genre-blending style, and energetic presence. Emerging from Abuja, Nigeria, Swazer gained early recognition in 2025 following the release of his debut single, *Hustle*, which quickly positioned him as a rising voice in the new generation of Afrobeats.

Early Life and Background

David Chinonso Nwaeze was born into a family of four children and raised in Abuja by his single mother, Grace Edwin Nwaeze. As the second child, he grew up alongside his elder brother Daniel Chidera Nwaeze, younger brother Destiny Nwaeze, and youngest sister Princess Deborah Nwaeze. Swazer's upbringing in a musically vibrant environment shaped his passion for rhythm and storytelling. He is of Igbo heritage and speaks Nigerian Pidgin, English, and Igbo fluently. His educational journey includes Bedrock International School (nursery), Royal Brain Academy (primary), Excellent Foundation Academy (junior secondary), and Community College (senior secondary).

Musical Journey

Inspired deeply by Nigerian superstar Ayra Starr in 2021, Swazer developed an obsession with music that led him to pursue it professionally. In June 2025, he released his debut single *Hustle*, followed by a speed-up version the next day. His music is a unique blend of Afrobeats, Afro-soul, R&B, hip-hop, neosoul, and alté—marked by powerful rhythms, introspective themes, and raw emotional delivery.

His sound is heavily influenced by Ayra Starr, Tems, Tyla, Qing Madi, Omah Lay, and Rema—with Ayra Starr being his top idol. He describes his style as emotional, soul-stirring, and rhythmically passionate. His goal is to create music that motivates, connects, and touches lives globally.

Career Highlights

Swazer made his debut on major streaming platforms through RouteNote distribution. Beyond digital releases, he has performed at school talent shows and TikTok Live competitions, where his passion and vocal strength caught attention.
