The Trope Wiki (which uses  Wikipedia's Mediawiki software  as opposed to the modified  variant of pmwiki used by TV  Tropes) is an alternative mirror  to TV Tropes, bearing the same  mission statement and many of  the same goals, but is instead  focused on making a variant on  the formula that is [[Serious  Business| a respectable writing  resource with a tightly  controlled content admission  system.]]

The site administrator is Jack  Butler, a former troper of TV  Tropes (and creator of the  [[Evil Overlord List]]), who  left TV Tropes after a ban was  imposed on him by site  administrator Fast Eddie for  committing to renaming the  "Nakama" trope to "Band Of  Brothers" and doing a migration  of the examples to this newly  named article (according to  Jack, at Fast Eddie's request).  Further, he was then accused of  page vandalism by Fast Eddie  (who accused him of overstepping  his authority).

After this, he decided to form  his own wiki devoted to the same  objective of cataloging tropes.  Originally, he tried to use  Wikia to create his mirror  project (this very wiki in fact,  to whom we owe Jack credit for  providing the core of our site  policy and the basic category  framework), but grew  dissatisfied with Wikia and  opted for a Wikipedia style  format, which is currently  called "The Trope Wiki", which  can be found here:

It is still in development, but  it has active plans to become a  rival to [[TV Tropes]] and be an  alternative mirror for the  purposes of cataloging tropes  and writing conventions.
