Assistant Patrol Leader (APL) is the Second in Command and Helper to the Patrol Leader.
- Appointed by: Patrol Leader
- Reports to: Patrol Leader
- Responsibilities:
- Assist the patrol leader in all of his duties
- Stand in for patrol leader where and when the PL needs it (at Troop and PLC meetings)
- Helps the patrol leader plan and steer patrol meetings and activities. Helps him keep patrol members informed.
- Helps the patrol get ready for all troop activities.
- Represents his patrol at patrol leader's council meetings when the patrol leader cannot attend.
- Set’s a good example
- Enthusiastically wear’s the uniform correctly
- Shows scout spirit

- Fulfills:
- It is up to the scoutmaster and the committee if this counts for an upper rank
- Recommended
- Attending Junior Leader Training run by Troop
