Pirate Radio refers to unlicensed broadcasting which is illegal in most countries.

Pirate broadcasting in the UK was mostly popular in the 1960's with offshore stations such as Radio Caroline and Merseyside was quite active in the 1980's, but most pirate stations in the UK broadcast at weekends only.
