* ps: I'll have to catch a few winks before I will be able to incorporate a good workaround for including sections on the page in question. I'll get back to it when I get up <s>tomorrow</s>... later today. --[[User:Simulacrum|Simulacrum]] 03:57, 8 December 2006 (EST) | * ps: I'll have to catch a few winks before I will be able to incorporate a good workaround for including sections on the page in question. + | I am totally on board with not copy&pasting on the proposals thing...totally am for that. Thanks for the suggestions...I would like to learn a little more about how to space things and create header looking things...right now it is all experimentation which is difficult. Is there a wiki-edit website you recommend or a place somewhere on the site... --[[User:Tucana25|Tucana25]] 08:18, 8 December 2006 (EST) |

Eh...you have a different perspective of 'cold' than i do...i believe our high temperature was in the teens today, and i haven't given up shorts yet (granted i did have a wool sweater and hat on, but....). --Tucana25 21:52, 1 December 2006 (EST)
If this give you an indication, my community gets snow, sleet, and/or freezing rain about 1.5 days out of the year and when it happens the community as a whole practically shuts down. We just get dumb-founded when the roads turn white! Two major universities in my area were closed yesterday because it sleeted! We're just not used to cold weather.
Also, I've noticed from various discussions that you've had questions/problems regarding editing. It looks like you've discovered the answers already. If you have any other questions let me know. --Simulacrum 00:14, 2 December 2006 (EST)
I'll be passing through your way in a few months. I hope to be en route to the Kerrville Folk Festival the week before Memorial Day. No snow by then, however. --Tucana25 07:26, 2 December 2006 (EST)
Regarding newsletter, front page, et al
Hey T25, Looking pretty good so far. Here's the answers:
- About external linking: Instead of a verical bar ie | use a space like so: [http://www.microsoft.com/ Microsoft] This makes Microsoft
- Regarding the main page: I think that there is a better way of updating instead of copy and pasting the proposals text we could include it as a template. This is something that I wanted to do with the all rules page but I haven't found the time. ...I have edited the your version of the main page to show you what I am talking about. Now whenever the proposals page is changed it is automatically updated on your variant. By the way, I like the new format.
- Now about the newsletter: I see no problem with how you are doing it. I admit the way that I did was very time consuming. I suggest that older news get placed in the archive, maybe on a weekly basis. Along those lines the article about the new player Mike should have had a more recent date in the title. Now some style suggestions: First off, start the article with top level heading. This is to get the archive to list the article better later on. Also, see how I signed my articles? I think it would look cool for it to look like a real newpaper article complete with by-line. Now regarding the main text of the article, it would be great to supply useful tidbits about the subject. I know that since Mike has not gotten around to creating a user page yet there's not much to go on. Here's how I would have written it:
- Basically, you want to include any link a reader might want to visit in relation to the subject of the article.
- If you don't like my suggestions, by all means do what you want. You're the editor! --Simulacrum 03:57, 8 December 2006 (EST)
