Cathy can kick your ass. Literally --- she has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. If you're in a debate, expect nothing less. Catherine was voted CUSID's Most Underrated Debater. This can be attributed to her feminine guile, Machiavellian cunning and her year spent abroad honing her art.

From Montreal, Cathy went to Dawson, studied history at McGill, and is now studying law at Oxford. She is a perpetual undergrad.
If you are ever to engage in verbal fisticuffs with lady Devine be warned, her latin insults are as cutting as they are obscure,incomprehensible references to an age long ago not worth talking about.
Debate francais

Magnus: Debate francais moved to Débat

==Le président==

==Le premier ministre==

*Résolution : à la base de chaque débat de type parlementaire, il y a une résolution qui est définie avant le débat. Cette résolution peut être une citation, un fait, des paroles d’une chanson… Cette résolution doit être liée par le premier ministre à son sujet de débat, sa proposition. Cette résolution ne sert pas de base au débat. Ce qui sert de base, c’est la proposition du gouvernement.
*La proposition (case en anglais) : C’est la position du gouvernement, le sujet du débat qu’ils introduisent. Le but du gouvernement est d’introduire une proposition qui fait travailler l’esprit, et qui est assez contentieuse pour être débattue pendant 34 minutes. Les propositions peuvent être des débats de prinicipe. Ex, L’Union européenne devrait internvenir au Darfour, des débats philosophiques. Ex Le rêve américain est mort, ou des situations spatio-temporelles (time-place set), où le gouvernement « transforme » la chambre en situation historique ou fictionelle, dans le but de présenter une proposition qui dépend de la situation créée. Ex Monsieur le président, vous êtes Secrétaire Khrushchev, nous sommes en 1962, n’enlevez pas les missiles de Cuba.

==Le membre de l’opposition==

==Le ministre de la couronne==

==Le leader de l’opposition==

==About==
Held since before anyone can remember, the McGill in-house tournament originally was open to all members of the debating union, but in recent memory has been made a novice tournament held twice yearly, once at the end of first semester, once again at the end of second semester. While the size may be small, the tournament is highly competitive with only a select few individuals ever successfully defending the title year round. Those elite few have gone on to garner much fame and glory, as only is fit for the champions of this prestigious event.

Typically, the event takes place over two days, with (mandatory) public speaking rounds. Often breaking straight to finals, the tournament is judged by McGill DU 'pros' with all pros who take down a flow being able to judge in the final round. 2006 marked the first time the final was held in the British Parliamentary format, the tournament classically being held in CP.
A student of history at McGill University, Sean Hayward has been involved with the Debating Union since his freshman year in 2006. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Sean moved with his family to Ontario at a young age. Throughout his early academic career he actively participated in extracurricular activities, and placed little emphasis on scholarly pursuits. It would be premature to suggest his academic future. Sean is currently the [[Chair of Publicity]], and has recently updated the long-defunct [http://ssmu.mcgill.ca/debate/ Debating Union website].

Vinay:

Bryan, B-Badz, B-Rock, the surly looking dude in the corner studied Philosophy at McGill. He was famed in CUSID for his drinking, gruff demeanor, and short stature.
Padraic Scanlan

Vinay:

[[Image:pads.jpg|thumb|right|Padraic Scanlan]]

Padraic went to Loyola. Then he went to Dawson. Then he went to McGill. Now he's at Princeton, being all "bro"-like. Padraic enjoys; popped collars, John Wilkes Booth, bro-mance, anxiety and double-popped collars.

Padraic is/was famed for his self-mocking debating, his expertise at the MO, his vast knowledge of everything related to English history, and his ...unique... sense of humor. Padraic left the union after an epic battle between the unmovable object (Padraic's Quarterfinals record) and the unstoppable force (Sophie's inability to lose one outround per tournament). Padraic was moved... and won his first quarterfinals in years.

We miss him.
