I am 58 and live in SW Essex and, although I have always had an interest in birds, I actually only started keeping a list in September 2005 so to that extent, I guess I am a "newbie". There are still lot of common birds which will be "lifers" for me this year :-)
My "local" patch is the Fishers Green area (2006 score: 82)but I also visit Amwell, Rye Meads and Epping Forest.I have added Connaught Water/Chingford Plain as a second location for the 2007 Patch List. I also visit friends in Powys regularly which is good for Red Kites and the odd Raven!
