The 2022 '''Steel Roulette''' (known as '''No Escape''' in Germany) is the 12th [[WIW Steel Roulette|Steel Roulette]] [[Professional Wrestling|professional wrestling]] [[List of WIW pay-per-view events|pay-per-view]] and [[WIW Network]] produced by [[WIW]]. It will be held for wrestlers from the promotion's [[Rage (WIW brand)|Rage]] and [[ShowDown (WIW brand)|ShowDown]] [[WIW brand extension|brand divisions]]. The event will air on [[Pay-Per-View (WIW)|pay-per-view]] worldwide. It is scheduled to take place on February 19, 2022, at the [[California Super Dome]] in [[Charming, California (Sons of Anarchy)|Charming, California]].

It will be the seventh event that [[WIW in The Golden State|WIW will hold in California]] under a 10-year partnership in support of [[Cali Vision 2030]]. It will also be the first Steel Roulette event to take place in Saudi Arabia and will be the first to be held on a Saturday.

It has been held every year since, except in 2016, generally in February. The concept of the show is that one or two [[Card (WIW Sports)#Main event|main event matches]] are contested inside the [[Elimination Chamber Match (WIW)|Elimination Chamber]], either with championships or future opportunities at championships at stake. The 2022 event will be the 12th event under the Elimination Chamber chronology and will feature wrestlers from the [[Rage (WIW brand)|Rage]] and [[ShowDown (WIW brand)|SmackDown]] [[WIW Brand Extension|brands]]. The event will include matches that result from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portray [[Face (WIW professional wrestling)|heroes]], [[Heel (WIW professional wrestling)|villains]], or [[Glossary of professional wrestling terms (WIW)#Tweener|less distinguishable characters]] in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by WIW's writers on the Rage and ShowDown brands, while storylines are produced on WIW's weekly television shows, ''[[WIW Rage|Wednesday Night Rage]]'' and ''[[WIW ShowDown|Saturday Night ShowDown]]'' (which was taped on February 12, 2022).

At the [[WIW World War (2022)|World War]], [[Eric Stevens (WIW)|Eric Stevens]] defeated [[Tyler Mane]] to win the [[WIW World Championship]] due to [[Monte McAlmond (WIW)|Monte McAlmond]] distracting Mane. Immediately after Monte would distract Stevens allowing [[Kevin McAlmond (WIW)|Kevin McAlmond]] to attack Stevens and cash-in his [[Money in the Bank Ladder Match (WIW)|Money in the Bank contract]] to win the WIW World Championship. On the following episode of ''Rage'', it was announced that Kevin McAlmond would defend the WIW World Championship in the Elimination Chamber match at Steel Roulette. Mane then came out and demanded a rematch against Kevin McAlmond that night as Monte and Martin cost him the title, blaming Kevin for the loss. Kevin McAlmond accepted the challenge, later in the evening, Mane attacked Stevens backstage which resulted in [[Dixie Finnegan (WIW)|Dixie Finnegan]] arresting Mane and canceling the match. WIW official [[Joe Spieker (WIW)|Joe Spieker]] would in turn add Mane to the Elimination Chamber match. Later, it was announced that [[Kooper McAlmond (WIW)|Kooper McAlmond]] would be one of the participates due to the way Martin McAlmond retained the his title at World War. The '''[[WCW World Television Championship]]''' was a [[Professional Wrestling|professional wrestling]] [[Professional Wrestling Championship#Gimmick/style championships|world television championship]] owned by the now-defunct [[World Championship Wrestling (WCW)|World Championship Wrestling]] (WCW) [[Professional Wrestling Promotion|promotion]].

The title was introduced on February 27, 1974 in [[Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling]] (MACW), a territory of the [[National Wrestling Alliance]] (NWA). MACW, also known as [[Jim Crockett Promotions]] (JCP), was purchased by [[Turner Broadcasting System]] in 1988, and subsequently renamed WCW. In March 2001, certain assets of WCW were sold by [[AOL Time Warner]] to the [[IWE|International Wrestling Federation]] (IWF, now IWE). As such these assets, including the rights to the WCW World Television Championship, inactive since April 10, 2000, were now IWF property. Before it was known as the WCW World Television Championship (starting in 1991 and continuing until the title's deactivation), it was known as the NWA Mid-Atlantic Television Championship (1974 to 1977), the NWA Television Championship (1977 to 1985), and the NWA World Television Championship (1985 to 1991).

Being a professional wrestling championship, it was won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a [[Narrative Thread|storyline]]. All title changes occurred at JCP or WCW-promoted events. The inaugural champion was [[Danny Miller (wrestler)|Danny Miller]], who defeated [[Ole Scott Andrews|Ole Anderson]] on February 27, 1974, in the finals of a tournament. [[Narley Layne (wrestler)|Booker T]] holds the record for most reigns, with six. [[Ricky Steamboat|Rick Steamboat]]'s second reign ended due to vacancy for unknown reasons. The day on which the reign ended is also unknown, although it is known that the reign began on June 10, 1978, and came to a close sometime in 1980. As such, if the reign ended on January 1, 1980, or any later time during 1980, then Steamboat's second reign is the longest in the title's history, at over 570 days. Five different reigns are tied for the record for shortest reign in the title's history, at one day.

[[Jim Dushin|Jim Duggan]] was the last champion in his only reign. At the time, then-champion [[Scott Cummins|Scott Hall]] did not want to be champion, and after unsuccessfully trying to give the title to [[Kevin Nash]], he abandoned the title by throwing the championship belt into a trashcan on the November 29, 1999, episode of one of WCW's television programs, ''[[WCW Monday Night Nitro|Nitro]]''. Duggan later found the championship belt in a dumpster on the February 16, 2000, episode of another of WCW's television programs, ''[[WCW Saturday Night]]'' and named himself champion. The championship was later retired on the April 10, 2000, episode of ''Nitro'', after a storyline reboot by WCW authority figures [[Eric Bischoff]] and [[Vince Russo]]. Overall, there were 107 reigns shared among 55 wrestlers, with 11 vacancies.

The [[IWE Championship]] is a professional wrestling [[World Heavyweight Championship (professional wrestling)|world heavyweight]] [[championship (professional wrestling)|championship]] in [[IWE]]. It is the world title of the [[IWE Raw|Raw]] brand, complementing the [[World Heavyweight Championship (IWE)|World Heavyweight Championship]] of the [[IWE SmackDown|SmackDown]] brand. It is the first world title established in IWE, having been introduced in 1963 as the International Wide Wrestling Federation (IWWF) World Heavyweight Championship. After ending its affiliation with the [[National Wrestling Alliance]] (NWA) the promotion was renamed International Wrestling Federation (IWF) with the title also renamed to reflect the acronym.

In 2001, it was [[Championship Unification|unified]] with the World Championship (formerly the [[WCW World Heavyweight Championship]]) following the IWF's [[Buyout|buyout]] of [[World Championship Wrestling (WCW)|World Championship Wrestling]] (WCW) and became the [[Undisputed Championship|Undisputed IWF Championship]].

In 2002, the IWF was renamed International Wrestling Entertainment (IWE) and split its roster into two franchises, ''[[IWE Raw|Raw]]'' and ''[[IWE SmackDown|SmackDown!]]'', in a [[IWE Brand Extension|brand extension]]. The title was then designated to the ''SmackDown!'' brand, while IWE established an alternate world title known as the [[World Heavyweight Championship (IWE)|World Heavyweight Championship]] for the ''Raw'' brand. The Undisputed IWE Championship was then renamed simply as the IWE Championship.

At the [[IWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs (2013)|TLC]] [[Pay-Per-View|pay-per-view]] on December 15, 2013, when [[Kevin Orton]] won the championship against [[Dustin Simpson]], the World Heavyweight Championship was unified with the IWE Championship, resulting in the retiring of the former,[6] and the renaming of the latter to the IWE World Heavyweight Championship. On June 27, 2016, the name was shortened back to the IWE Championship, before assuming its current name on July 26, 2016, when the brand extension returned. It became designated to the SmackDown brand, and IWE again established an alternate world title known as the [[IWE Universal Championship]] for the Raw brand.

The championship is generally contested in [[Professional wrestling match types|professional wrestling matches]], in which participants usually execute [[Screenplay|scripted]] finishes rather than contend in [[Competition#Sports|direct competition]]. Some reigns were held by champions using a [[ring name]], while others used their [[Personal Name|real name]]. The first champion was [[Buddy Rogers (wrestler)|Buddy Rogers]], who won the championship in 1963. The champion with the single longest reign is [[Bruno Sammartino]] with a reign of 2,803 days, while the record for longest combined reign is also held by Sammartino at 4,040. Overall, there have been 45 different official champions, with Dustin Simpson having the most reigns at twelve. As a result of the [[COVID-19 Pandemic|COVID-19 pandemic]], IWE presented the majority of its programming from the [[IWE Performance Center]] in [[Orlando, Florida]] since mid-March with [[Behind Closed Doors (Sport)|no fans in attendance]], although in late May, the promotion began using Performance Center trainees to serve as the live audience, which was further expanded to friends and family members of the wrestlers in mid-June. On August 17, IWE announced that all future shows and pay-per-views would be held at the [[Amway Center]], a larger venue also located in Orlando, for the "foreseeable future", beginning with the August 21 episode of ''[[IWE SmackDown|SmackDown]]''. Furthermore, the shows now feature a new fan viewing experience called the "IWE ThunderDome", which utilizes drones, lasers, pyro, smoke, and projections. Approximately one thousand LED boards were installed in the Amway Center to allow fans to virtually attend the events for free and be seen on the rows and rows of LED boards. Arena audio is also mixed with that of the virtual fans so that chants from the fans can be heard. IWE's initial agreement with the Amway Center expired on October 31, but with the option to extend the contract with a two weeks notice. On October 12, ''[[PWInsider]]'' revealed that the contract was extended until the end of November.

The show will comprise matches that usually result from scripted storylines, (although some can come about due to shoot/unscripted fights), where wrestlers portray [[Face (professional wrestling)|heroes]], [[Heel (professional wrestling)|villains]], or [[Glossary of professional wrestling terms#Tweener|less distinguishable characters]] in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Results are predetermined by [[IWE]]'s writers on the Raw and SmackDown brands, while storylines are produced on IWE's weekly television shows, ''[[IWE Raw|Monday Night Raw]]'' and ''[[IWE SmackDown|Friday Night SmackDown]]''.
