World 2 of the .com server was expected to be based upon the .de Server 9, however it was very different. World 2 was release may 5th 2007.

Space

Incoming players from server(World) 1 who have played in the .co.uk servers and other international servers will be new to the concept of, space.

Space is the consumption of land occupied by the constant building/upgrading of buildings by the islands ruler. Originally islanders will start off with 1,000 space. As the construction of buildings continue, the islands space will begin to decline. As you become further in reaching your goal of all resources level 20 (As was the main objective in Server 1) the user will come to realize that this is impossible, due to space restrictions.

Overcoming these limits

Space is a very important factor in your island development. Here are a some things suggested to overcome the space limits:

  • Downgrade inferior resources specifically Stone. Server 1 veterans will know, that stone is not used much in later advancement of your island (ie building of fleets). Therefore it could be downgraded accordingly to fit the need of my islands resource requirement. But, depending on if your army relies on Catapults for your main offense you are going to require more Stone.
  • Catapult

Catapults are mighty weapons which are able to destroy entire islands. Costs: 2000 gold, 3000 stone, 2000 lumber, 18 hours Requirements:Laboratory (10)

  • Projection of technology upgrading may cause some to build a Laboratory only until they can upgrade the Spear, Shield, and Bow to their maximum level, and then immediately downgrade the lab once again for the much needed space.

The IK help file World 2 Help, it clearly says:

"2.3. What happens if i downgrade a building? A downgrade of a building costs gold. But you will get back the space, stones and lumber. If you downgrade your laboratory you will loose all dependent technologies."
  • Plan ahead with regard to what you are trying to accomplish. As stated above, in the early stages of the game, Stone is much more important than Lumber. As such, it is recommended that players look ahead at what they will be building, and upgrade the resources appropriately. Because Gold is used in everything you do (upgrading, downgrading, building, army units, navy units, technologies, catapults, etc) it is highly recommended that Gold always be your number highest level resource.   • Colonization is another possibility. Though the rules and limits of colonization are currently unknown, it has been speculated by some that the use of Colonization will be more pro dominant in World 2, for more than just sheer fleet size. People may begin harvesting materials exclusively from one of their many colonies, and with the Harbour, they will ship resources throughout their islands as needed. This is mere speculation, however, because no one has gotten this far. Schizmo 00:18, 30 May 2007 (EDT)

Untested Ideas

Interesting, although untested but feasible rumours circulate that upgrading you Main House will allow more space to be added to your island. In the description of the Main House, is states:

"The main house is the heart of each and every island. Here building orders are coordinated. The more it is expanded, the more buildings can be built."

This can be interpreted as, the more it can be expanded the more buildings can be built, which could mean two things: In server 1 it meant the variety of buildings is expanded. In World 2 it could mean both variety and space.

This is false so far, a level 11 main house still has a 1000 space cap. The possibility is still open for level 20 Main House though.

New features

  • "Fleet Screen" to better keep track of fleets.
  • Alliance search function on the Map screen
  • A return to specific times rather than the approximate ones used in .com
  • Different lay out and more graphics (could be considered a negative over the original version)
  • Visual representations of buildings (could be considered a negative over the original version)

Requirements

Catapults: level 10 laboratory no research required

Small Ships: lev 1 sail research, lev 1 harbour

Ships: lev 1 sail research, lev 5 harbour

Archers: lev 10 barracks, lev 1 bow (lev 5 lab)
