Large Merchant Ship

Merchant ships have extremely large load rooms for the transport of resources. For successful attacks, you should also bring some merchant ships with you to bring your loot home safely.

Offense level: 20
Defense level: 20
Loading space: 500 units
Speed: 3-4 knots

Strategy

Large Merchant Ships are slow. This fact greatly limits their usefulness. They can carry 25% more cargo per gold spent than Small Merchant Ships, but the small ships are always at least 25% faster. Some players advocate the use of Large Merchant Ships for peaceful trading, where speed is less a factor, and keeping a separate fleet of small ships for attacking. The build time is the longest for any ship type except the Colonization Ship.
