Also a jolly nice bloke, the founder of this Wiki. During his spare time, Dave was a part-time pimp on GF's babe forum, and a full time spammer. Also ran the one and only licensed establishment on GF premises, the famed GamingForums Bar, which never seems to run out of alcoholic beverages...

Dave has been a member since May 29th 2003, originally registering under the name andyfromkacofony. Since that time, he has undergone many name changes, including Sir Dave, and Jedi Master DavetheFo, however, he has always returned to DavetheFo.

Previously, Dave has occupied the position of Moderator, one that he has resigned from on more than one occasion, however, he has not resigned anywhere near as much as [[AzH]].

Also a member of the Muse-are-awesome club. Which is not a real club, but its just a collection of people who think Muse are awesome. I bet you'll never guess who wrote this...

As of the 24th of October '06 Dave has resigned as a moderator (again) and has 'retired' from forum life in favour of the outside world.

On November 30th 2006, Dave once again managed to take up moderatorship, and has also, quite fortunatly, remembered his admin password for this very GF wiki.

This unfortunate forum error has had quite a lot of publicity of late, and has spawned a new sport for the Spam-forum regulars - hijack as many threads as possible in the shortest amount of time.

The mechanics of this problem are fairly simple; due to the fact that the server clocks are out of synchronisation if a user posts a reply in rapid succession to a new thread being created, there is a small chance that the user's post will skip to the top of the thread. The forum software will then treat the thread as if it was created by that user, giving him or her the power to edit the thread's original content, its title, or to delete it altogether. This can also happen mid-thread, in which case it is referred to as a "post jump", the frequency of which can cause extreme annoyance to members attempting to make sense of who posted what.

Understandably, this glitch is extremely annoying to those members who find themselves "threadjacked" on a regular basis.

Recently, [[DavetheFo]] discovered a method by which moderators can re-jack their threads. So far, only [[Donovan]] knows this closely guarded secret. The ability is not often used, as it is considered unfair, however, andything goes in the spam forum really.

He had asked for help with his microphone, when, after uploading screenshots, [[Chris Down]] noticed it was on mute. The thread spread over two more pages of rofling. And then it was mercilessly locked by [[Rookie_42]]. But it was too late. The laughter had already happened.

As an April fools joke in 2005 the staff decided to remove all of the 'General chit-chat' forums apart from the spam forum.

The announcement accompanying this action declared that:

'Gaming Forums will be moving over to a strictly Gaming related forum format. All non-gaming related forums will be eliminated. Until we get those forums properly archived, they will be marked as non-post-counting forums. We will make a another annoucement once these forums have been archived and they are ready to be removed.

Horrified users were quick to start petitions and generally complained very loudly as staff members appeared to resign over the issue and the IRC channel associated with the forum became active emerging from the depths of its paralysis to momentarily pour outrage upon the incident.
Either an act of despicable naughtiness or one of the best April fools jokes that's ever been played it nonetheless remains a vivid memory for many of Gaming Forums denizens

Early in the 14th year of our lord (05.02.03), '''''Aeroflot''''' joined Gaming Forums. He spent the first few months, in the CoD forum, with the name Pathfinder, looking for tips on how to mod the game. As soon as he grew balls, 'Pathfinder' created a new account under the name 'Aeroflot,' and started the reak havic on the general population of Gaming Forums. Aeroflot left the forums for several months until he came back in mid-2004. He hung around for a while, getting his Pathfinder/Aeroflot accounts merged together. This is when Aeroflot's join date got screwed up. He actually joined (05.01.03.) Pathfinder, as Aeroflot was called now, became a staff member on FN and was site admin for OFPFiles, HaloFiles, and TribesVengeanceFiles (and had other staff roles on other sites, too.) Pathfinder gained mod status on GF and assistant Network Admin on FN. Again, Pathfinder changed his name to Dobry Wieczor (meaning good evening in Polish - which sounds really cool.) Sadly, Dobry got lazy and left GF and FN for about a month - losing all of his status.

After some time as Dobry, he started to get bored of his name. So, he created another second account, Aeroflot. When the hacker dude got control of Dobry's Aeroflot account, '''[[AzH]]''' merged the Dobry and Aeroflot accounts. Now Dobry was Aeroflot again.

Currently, Aeroflot is known as Aeroflotte. 'Flotte' means fleet in German. Aeroflotte is like a communist-nazi split in personality.

For about 30 seconds, lol!

Aeroflot basically got away with murder by posting a thread in the General Discussion which attacked the Babe Forum staff for being fucking retarded. Only a handful of people got to see the thread before Donutz deleted it, but it was a good thread. Well, anyways, Donutz gave Aeroflot the temp ban, but AzH raised the ban, because Aeroflot is so megacool like that.

== The Basics ==
What is the rep system you ask? It is a form of feedback which allows users to give rep or karma to another user based on what one thinks of a user.

There are two types of rep (or Karma as it is sometimes called), positive, and negative.

Positive reputation is given when a user approves of an item that another member has posted. The amount of reputation given is equal to the users ''Rep Power''

Negative reputation is given when a user disapproves of a post, be it for the users point of view, their posting manner, or just plain bitchiness. The amount of reputation removed is equal to ''half'' the givers rep power.

== Points and Power ==
This is the most often source of confusion.

Rep points are how many points you have recieved. At the time of writing, the user [[DavetheFo]] had 634 points in total.

Rep power is how many points you can give or take away, and is based upon a number of factors, explained below. Again, at the time of writing, DavetheFo had a rep power of 11.

== Rep Power ==
Your rep power is increased by the amount of time that you are a member, and the amount of posts that you have made.

# You must have at least 300 posts before you can give reputation to another member.
# You must have at least 10 reputation points before you can give reputation to other members.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 180 days you have been registered.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 1000 posts you have made.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 1000 reputation points you have received.

Therefore, by recieving more positive reputation, you are, in turn, able to give more reputation.

== Spreading ==
Yes, spreading.

Sometimes when attempting to give a user rep, you will recieve a message saying that you must spread some more reputation around. Unfortunatly in the early days of the forum, many people got a knife and attempted to spread reputation across the server motherboard in much the same fashion as you spread butter upon toast.

Upon realising that the server had been broken for a 27th by rep related problems, [[n0e]] kindly informed the members that it meant that you had to give rep to more people before you were allowed to give rep to the same person again.

Example, [[DavetheFo]] gives [[AzH]] rep for a good post. Dave must then give rep (positive or negative) to 20 more people before he is allowed to give AzH any more rep.

== Green and Red ==
Underneath a users information, there will be a green, red or grey bar.

Green is for positive reputation, and goes up for each 100 reputation for the first 500 rep points. After that, you get glowing green blobs every 200 rep points you recieve.

The system also works the same for negative reputation, however, the bar is red rather than green.

A grey block indicates that a user has disabled their reputation.

== Rep Whoring ==
Asking for reputation is not allowed under GF law, and is often known as Rep Whoring.

It is usually members asking for positive rep (often called green), however, certain demented individuals may also ask for neg (red) rep. Either way, such requests are invariably met with members giving the user negative rep.

The source of much kerfuffle on the Forums, the Rep system will now be layed bare for everyone to see and understand. Hopefully.

== The Basics ==
What is the rep system you ask? It is a form of feedback which allows users to give rep or karma to another user based on what one thinks of a user.

There are two types of rep (or Karma as it is sometimes called), positive, and negative.

Positive reputation is given when a user approves of an item that another member has posted. The amount of reputation given is equal to the users ''Rep Power''

Negative reputation is given when a user disapproves of a post, be it for the users point of view, their posting manner, or just plain bitchiness. The amount of reputation removed is equal to ''half'' the givers rep power.

== Points and Power ==
This is the most often source of confusion.

Rep points are how many points you have recieved. At the time of writing, the user [[DavetheFo]] had 634 points in total.

Rep power is how many points you can give or take away, and is based upon a number of factors, explained below. Again, at the time of writing, DavetheFo had a rep power of 11.

== Rep Power ==
Your rep power is increased by the amount of time that you are a member, and the amount of posts that you have made.

# You must have at least 300 posts before you can give reputation to another member.
# You must have at least 10 reputation points before you can give reputation to other members.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 180 days you have been registered.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 1000 posts you have made.
# Your reputation power is increased by one for every 1000 reputation points you have received.

Therefore, by recieving more positive reputation, you are, in turn, able to give more reputation.

== Spreading ==
Yes, spreading.

Sometimes when attempting to give a user rep, you will recieve a message saying that you must spread some more reputation around. Unfortunatly in the early days of the forum, many people got a knife and attempted to spread reputation across the server motherboard in much the same fashion as you spread butter upon toast.

Upon realising that the server had been broken for a 27th by rep related problems, [[n0e]] kindly informed the members that i meant that you had to give rep to more people before you were allowed to give rep to the same person again.

Example, [[DavetheFo]] gives [[AzH]] rep for a good post. Dave must then give rep (positive or negative) to 20 more people before he is allowed to give AzH any more rep.

== Green and Red ==
Underneath a users information, there will be a green, red or grey bar.

Green is for positive reputation, and goes up for each 100 reputation for the first 500 rep points. After that, you get glowing green blobs every 200 rep points you recieve.

The system also works the same for negative reputation, however, the bar is red rather than green.

A grey block indicates that a user has disabled their reputation.
