Most of these areas have the same population. However in certain spots New Orleans has more population densities than the Everglades and Illinois.  For the most part yes they do but Southern Illinois has more in certain areas because of college students and they did not take this into account.

This whole area is prone to flooding.  The population map shows a high rate of population even though the flood damage could be severe.

One single zone type would give you a false idea of the region's soil type, population density, flood region, vegetation, and natural landscape.  Southern Illinois varies in all of these aspects.  Businesses wishing to locate to the area may be given an unrealistic view of the region.  People hoping to build certain types of homes may find the area undesirable.  Farmers considering a specific crop may find the soil unsuitable, even though other comparable factors may make Southern Illinois look perfect for that crop.
