Welcome to the Elia Family Project. In conjunction with the Elia Family Reunion of 2001, which was a great success, the Elia Family Project was designed to help keep the Elia family as tightly knit as it was when Maria and Nicola first immigrated to the United States from Sicily. The website celebrates the 8 families descended from Maria and Nicola.

  • November 20, 2006. Jason Majewski's 2007 Reunion Survey arrived in many Elia mailboxes throughout the USA. Please fill out your surveys as soon as you can, and lets give Jason all the support and help he needs!
  • November 16, 2006. Jason Majewski is planning to send out a mailing shortly to determine interest in a 2007 Elia family reunion. Details coming soon.
  • November 12, 2006. Calling hours for Frank Benedicto are Tuesday, November 14, 5-7 at Wilson Funeral Home, 68 S. Broad St., Norwich NY. Funeral mass is Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Bartholomew's Church, 8 Silver St., Norwich, NY.
  • November 12, 2006. Sad news to report. Frank Benedicto passed away this morning of liver failure at the Vet's Home in Oxford. He had been admitted for rehabilitation to begin walking again after exhausting chemotherapy. He saw many family and friends in his final days, including his great grandson. He was a wonderful man and will be deeply missed by so many.

Did You Know?

Rose Modica went to school until she was 14, and then began working at the Norwich Knitting Mill (an employer of many Elias). Because she was underage, her boss asked her to hide in the ladies restroom whenever the male inspectors came to look over the factory's operation.
