Picking up two weeks after recent events, Nathan's determination to save a comatose Peter forces him to turn to Simone for help. Isaac's puzzling "Hiro vs. T-Rex" painting inspires Hiro and Ando to search for the pictured samurai sword. Jessica struggles against Niki's decision to turn herself into police. With his associate Eden dead and Matt on his heels, H.R.G. tries to focus on his orders regarding Sylar. After being offered a choice by the Haitian, Claire struggles with changes her decision has wrought. Taking up his father's quest, Suresh attempts to share information about who is "on the list" of people with special abilities and the threats to their lives. Meanwhile, a new hero makes a shocking debut.

===[[Symbol]] Sightings===

Important Note: This episode revealed the true meaning behind the symbol. At the museum Hiro tells us the story of Takezo Kensei but Ando uncovers the meaning of the symbol when he tells us that it is the combination of two Japanese symbols which mean “great talent” and “godsend.” Therefore, the symbol means “a great talent (ability) sent by God.”

1) Found on the sword replica at the museum (multiple shots were shown of this same symbol – at least four that we could count.) 
2) Seen, once again, on the necklace of the Haitian as he walked away at the Primatech Paper Company.

Two weeks later…
Peter lies in a coma in the hospital dreaming of the future when he thinks he causes the explosion that destroys New York. Angela and Nathan Petrelli are visiting and Angela is very unhappy with his treatment.

Niki/Jessica is being corralled by prison guards, one of which has what seems to be a broken nose and two black eyes, for an interview with her lawyer.

Claire, keeping the Haitian’s secret, tells HRG that she remembers nothing about the night that Jackie was killed. From the looks He gives him when she leaves we know that she is deceiving him.

HRG visits Sylar in his cell who looks near dead. A scientist who seems to be in the know concerning Sylar’s “aptitudes” tells HRG that they are “trying to find the code-on switches that define his aptitude” but that they can only detect telekinesis. Hrg tells the scientist that he has been ordered to keep Sylar alive.

The FBI, headed by Matt Parkman and Audrey Hanson, raid the Primatech Paper Company in Odessa, Texas but do not find Sylar. They do not find Sylar and Matt cannot explain why he can’t read their minds to find him.

Hiro and Ando are visiting the New York Museum of History and Technology. Hiro views a video about dinosaurs and then tells Ando that he knows that the sword is at the museum. He also tells him that his powers have become weaker since the death of Charlie.

Still in the coma Peter dreams of the future event when New York explodes. Simone visits and Nathan tells her that Peter said he was “absorbing too many powers.” Nathan asks Simone to take him to Isaac, the artist.

Micah and D.L. are at home when a strange visitor knocks on the door. He introduces himself as Aaron Mowsky. D.L. gives the briefcase with the 2 million dollars to Mowsky and asks if it is over. Mowsky tells him that D.L. is in Linderman’s debt and that he would know when the debt was called in.

Back at the museum Hiro relates the story of Takezo Kensei a famous Japanese warrior and we learn the meaning of the symbol. Ando tells us that it is the combination of two Japanese symbols which mean “great talent” and “godsend.” Therefore, the symbol means “a great talent (ability) sent by God.”

Mohinder discusses the people with special abilities to an FBI agent that has come to his apartment after his phone call. The agent tells Mohinder that a Sarah Ellis, one of the names he gave over the phone, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. He then shows Mohinder a picture of Eden McCain.

Claire confronts Zach and asks if they can be friends. Zach is skeptical of her seemingly belated attempt at friendship. They are both under the impression that neither can remember much about what happened the night Jackie Wilcox was murdered.

Niki/Jessica is talking to her lawyer when he tells her that the District Attorney is seeking the death penalty. Jessica and then Niki take turns coming out and the lawyer tells her that multiple personality disorders are a hard sell.

Hiro determines that the only way to get his powers back to full strength is to steal the sword, the center of power. When he squints time does not stop but it does slow down considerably. Hiro takes the opportunity to steal the sword and runs away with it before time returns to normal. When he unsheathes the sword he finds that it is only a replica that was provided by the “Linderman Group.”

Isaac has returned from rehab and is clean and better yet can still paint. Simone takes Nathan to meet him when Hiro and Ando show up as well.

Claire is told by the Haitian that her biological parents work for HRG and when she asks him to give Zach back his memories she is told that his gift does not work that way. Claire is determined to find a way to make Zach her friend.

“Somewhere in the Nevada desert” Theodore Sprague is practicing using and controlling his power.

Claire asks Zach to video tape her and ascends the abandoned tower, again, and jumps off. She is injured, again, and returns a sternum bone that is sticking out back into her body. Zach begins to realize that perhaps Claire is telling the truth.

Niki on the phone in prison with Micah and D.L. tells them that Jessica is in prison with her as well. Niki asks to hold her son but the guard refuses. When she yells at him he pulls out a telescoping baton which she takes away from him and snaps in half. Other guards enter the room and pin her to the wall.

Back at Mohinder’s apartment HRG has paid a visit. He tells Mohinder that they should join forces and that he wants Chandra’s list. Mohinder refuses but HRG gives him a business card and tells him to call if he changes his mind. Mohinder tells HRG that he is going to track down those with abilities and warn them about him.

Matt tries to convince his wife, Janice, that he can actually read minds.

Peter, still in a coma, sees the future again but this time there is a bearded man present. In quick flashes we see that Peter dreams that he is a pick-pocket. In the dream Peter tells Nathan that he took Ted’s power but could not control it. Again in his dream, the whole of New York is destroyed in an atomic explosion.

When Nathan returns from Isaac’s he finds that Peter come out of his coma and has left the hospital.

Simone tells Hiro that she has a connection to Linderman and that he buys every Isaac Mendez painting he can find. She rolls us the painting of Hiro and the dinosaur and tells Hiro to get into his car as they are going to Las Vegas.

Peter is walking the streets of New York trying to book air fare to Las Vegas, Nevada on his cell phone when he spots the man who he saw pick-pocketing in his dream. The man is, you guessed it, pick-pocketing. He is shocked that Peter can see him as he is obviously the invisible man. As they struggle we see that Peter too is invisible, absorbing and using the invisible man’s power.

Mohinder narrates the following outro:
“In the beginning there is discovery, a confusion of elements, the first snow fall of impossible change. Old lives undone, left behind. Strange faces made familiar. New nightmares to challenge sleep. New friends to feel safe with. Only then comes control. The need to impose order onto chaos. Through determination, Through study. Through struggle. All in defiance of a thundering truth. They’re here and the earth shudders under foot.

Niki pleads, “Oh God, please help me!”

And Jessica responds, “Who needs God when you’ve got me?”

===Trivia===

* The reporter giving the news of the union wells High School reopening is Angela Bromstad of Channel 5 KVAV.

* HRG and the scientist discuss a drug that they have given to Sylar. They call it “Glycymerine.”

* A lone large cockroach appears to be Sylar’s only companion in his cell.

* The plaque on the wall at the museum reads, “Property of the New York Museum of History and Technology.”

* The Japanese warrior that Hiro discusses is named Takezo Kensei and he was born in 1584. (A Google search came up with no matches for this name.)

* Kensei means "sword saint" in Japanese.

* Angela Petrelli is told by the doctors that Peter is suffering from “persistent idiopathic fever” which means a fever of unknown origin.

* In the museum a man is holding what looks like a comic book with a samurai warrior on it. Perhaps even Takezo Kensei.

After Homecoming, Claire and Mr. Bennet return home. H.R.G. tells her that he has known for a long time about her ability. He also tells her that the man who killed Jackie has been taken care of and that because there are others out there like him Zach and Lyle need to be warned to remain silent.

Matt and Audrey visit the crime scene at Union Wells High School and determine that Sylar either had help escaping or disappeared.

Nathan visits an incarcerated Peter who tells him that he is suppose to stop the bomb in New York City. In a dream Sylar tells Peter, “How can you stop what’s coming? You don’t know a thing about power!”

Jessica shoots D.L. in the arm and attempts to shoot him in the head. But he is prepared for the second shot and phases out as it passes through his head. When Jessica comes to the car Micah and D.L. are gone.

H.R.G. confronts Sylar in a bunker inside the Primatech Paper Company. He calls him a watchmaker and Gabriel Gray. Sylar tells him that he “restores timepieces and that he sees how things work. How they tick.” H.R.G. responds by telling him that the infusion of so many alterations to his DNA has corrupted his mind. Sylar threatens Claire and tells H.R.G. that he will take her ability too. Outside the bunker Eden tells H.R.G. that she could persuade Sylar to kill himself and it would then all be over. H.R.G. tells her that her idea will have to wait.

Matt and Audrey attempt to interview Peter and when Matt tries to “read” him is confronted by feedback. Peter reads Audrey’s mind and tells Matt that he must protect Claire.

Mohinder returns to Brooklyn and attempts to warn the FBI that a serial killer is on the loose but is unsuccessful.

Isaac is sober and sketching in his book when Eden comes to see him. She tells Isaac that the cheerleader has been saved and that she is “going off the reservation.” She hands him a cell phone and a Primatech key card so that he can exit the building.

Hiro and Ando make their way to Union Wells High School but are too late. They believe that the cheerleader is dead but Hiro convinces Ando to continue. Hiro utters the new slogan, “Find the artist – stop the bomb!” Isaac then calls Hiro and tells them that they have to meet.

Audrey Hansen interviews Claire and H.R.G. as Matt tries to read their thoughts outside the room. What he doesn’t know is that the Haitian is also nearby blocking and/or deflecting his attempt to read minds.

Jessica and Niki argue over who has the power and who is stronger. Micah finds Jessica and tells her that D.L. is hurt.

Peter is visited by Claire and H.R.G. Mr. Bennet tells Peter that he owes him his life and that he promises to return the favor. Claire’s affect on Peter seems to be wearing off as he appears to become sick (probably from the five story fall.) Claire calls Peter her “hero.”

Jessica attempts to beat D.L. but he gets the drop on her and knocks her down. When Micah is hurt in the scuffle Nike comes back out.

Claire destroys the tapes that Zach had of her and her “accidents.”

At the Greyhound Bus Depot in Midland, Texas Isaac steps off a bus and finds Hiro and Ando waiting for him. Hiro shows him the comic that has not yet been printed. Hiro tells Isaac that he has seen him in the future and that he was lying on the floor dead. Isaac tells Hiro that the man who cuts off heads has been captured.

Claire comes home to find that her brother, Lyle can remember nothing about her ability.

Niki leaves D.L. and confronts a Utah State Trooper. She asks him to arrest her for murder.

Matt and Audrey are staked out at the Primatech paper Company. When H.R.G. and the Haitian come out of the building Matt tries to read them but can only manage a bloody nose and the word “Sylar.” They are otherwise closed off from him.

When Claire calls Zach to meet her she finds out that he too has been mind wiped.

H.R.G. brings food to Sylar who tells him that they are very much alike. They both like to collect special people. H.R.G. tells Sylar that they are going to “take him apart!”

Hiro, Ando and Isaac have taken a room at a hotel in Midland, Texas. Isaac has a blank canvas in front of him. Hiro tells him to concentrate. Isaac’s eyes turn white and he begins to paint!

H.R.G. receives a panicked call from Claire. She suspects that whoever is after her has wiped the minds of both Zach and Lyle. The Haitian enters her room and tells her that her father is the one wiping minds and that he was ordered to do the same to her. For some reason he feels that he should not follow that order and that Claire should pretend to have had her mind wiped.

Isaac finishes his painting and it seems out of place. The painting is of Hiro holding his sword in front of a dinosaur (T-Rex.) Hiro and Ando are confused as they think that Isaac can only paint the future.

Mohinder gets a call from Eden. She tells him that she needs to make things right and that she is going to kill the man who murdered his father.

When Eden confronts Sylar she tells him that she is going to place a gun in the food tray and that he will take it and kill himself with it. He breaks the glass and drags Eden to him with his mind and tells Eden that he is going to take her ability. When she points the gun at him he laughs and tells her that it will not work on him. Instead, she points it at herself and pulls the trigger. Sylar is amazed that she would kill herself to keep him from assimilating her power.

Nathan bails Peter out of jail but as they leave Peter passes out. In another dream he awakens in New York. He meets Mohinder who looks at Peter’s chest and runs away. Matt Parkman, D.L., Micah and Niki also run away from him after looking at his shirt.
Claire runs up to Peter but turns and runs away after looking at his shirt. Nathan, Simone and Isaac also show up as does Hiro and Ando. They all seem happy to see him until they look at his chest. Suddenly, Peter’s fingers begin to glow and then his entire body. Almost as if he was going to explode…

Peter wakes up on the ground outside the Sherriff’s office in Midland, Texas. He tells Nathan that the explosion is his fault. It seems that Peter is dying and Nathan does his best to try and revive him but…

As the clock turns back six months for all of the "Heroes," Mohinder's father Chandra Suresh arrives in New York to begin his quest to find individuals with extraordinary abilities, and meets someone all to eager to be special. Peter celebrates his graduation from nursing school, and learns that Nathan plans to prosecute a case that could mean trouble for the entire Petrelli family. A surprise visit from her father brings out the worst in Niki. Hiro attempts to be a hero and change the future for someone important. Claire joins the cheerleading squad and makes a curious discovery. H.R.G. and the Haitian meet someone special.

Intro – Mohinder narrates: “To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose. The earth spins at a thousand miles an hour as we desperately try to keep from being thrown off. Like the first blush of winter that signals the great migration. Is there any warning of their arrival? A sign? A single event that’s set the chain into motion? Was it a whisper in god’s ear? Survive, adapt, escape… And if we could mark that single moment in time, that first hint of prophecy of approaching danger, would we have done anything differently? Could it have been stopped? Or was the die long ago cast? And if we could go back and alter its course, stop it from happening, would we?”

Hiro arrives in Midland, Texas at the Burnt Toast Café six months ago. It is Charlie’s birthday.

In Brooklyn, New York Gabriel Gray works on an old German watch as Chandra Suresh enters his watchmaker’s shop. Gabriel tells him that his watch is running 2 seconds slow (?) and fixes his watch in moments. Chandra tells him about the genetic research he is doing and that he suspects that Gabriel has special abilities. He gives him a copy of “Activating Evolution” and tells him to call him after reading it.

In Los Angeles, Matt Parkman pulls over a car for a traffic violation. The driver is Eden McCain. Using her voice of suggestion she tells Matt to get back into his car and to eat some doughnuts. After a few moments of confusion Matt drives away. When Eden begins to drive away she is confronted by the Haitian.

In Odessa, Texas Claire has made the cheerleading squad. Jackie and Claire fight over the uniform and Claire’s hand gets get when it goes through a plate glass door. Chandra Suresh calls H.R.G. and wants to learn more about Claire.

Hiro finds out that he has teleported six months into the past and has arrived on Charlie’s birthday in April. Hiro realizes that he is having trouble controlling his ability and feels that he has made a mistake.

In Las Vegas Niki attends an A.A. meeting and we discover that she has been sober one year. We find that Niki’s father is at the meeting and he tells her that he wants back into her life.

In Manhattan Peter is throwing a graduation party in which Nathan, Heidi, and Angela Petrelli attend. Nathan tells Peter that the District Attorney wants him to prosecute Mr. Linderman (who is now in Atlantic City). He tells him that Linderman has mob ties that are so deep that if they take him out an empire will fall. This includes their father.

Gabriel Gray visits Chandra Suresh at his apartment and tells him that he has always felt different, like he did not belong to his family. Chandra tells him that they’ll begin testing on his brain to see if any abilities are present. Chandra says, “If the soul exists, scientifically speaking, it exists in the brain.”

H.R.G. covers Eden’s list of criminal activities and she tries to use her power to convince him to let her go. But she begins to become aware that the Haitian can counter her power.

Hiro calls Japan from the past and asks for Ando but the Hiro from the past answers! Hiro immediately hangs up. “Great-a Scott!” he exclaims.

Matt Parkman is met by Tom McHenry who calls him a walking cliché for eating doughnuts. Matt is only an hour away from taking the detective test.

Hiro gives Charlie a Japanese language book and tells her that she has a “big memory” and that it will get “stronger in the future.” Charlie still doubts Hiro’s ability so he stops time and goes and gets her flowers and then delivers food to one of her tables. Then he offers up the prophetic, “Tomorrow the swallow will slay the dragon.”

Niki and D.L. visit Jessica’s gravesite and Niki tells D.L. that it’s important not to forget.

As Nathan and Heidi are driving home from Peter’s party a truck tries to run them off the road. Nathan’s ability kicks him to protect him and as he rises away from the car it crashes into some barrels on the off ramp of the freeway.

Peter wakes up from a dream when the phone rings. It is Nathan calling to tell him about the accident but Peter already saw in his dream that they were run off the road. At the hospital the doctor tells Nathan that Heidi’s injuries will put her in a wheelchair.

Back at the Burnt Toast Café Hiro shows Charlie in a Japanese newspaper that the Swallows defeated the Dragons in baseball, which should have confirmed his prediction from the day before. When Charlie still refuses to believe he stops time enough to show her the one thousand origami cranes that he had folded.

Chandra Suresh is testing Gabriel Gray when he comes to the conclusion that Gray may not have powers after all. Gabriel gets angry and storms out but not before taking a post it note with the address of Brian Davis, a man who Chandra suspects has telekinetic powers. As gray leaves H.R.G. arrives by taxi.

Micah receives a new laptop computer from his grandfather as a gift and immediately starts to take it apart. Hal tells Niki, “You are only as sick as your secrets.” Niki responds with “What did you do that was so bad?” When Hall sees that Micah has taken apart the computer he gets angry and leaves.

Chandra Suresh tells H.R.G. that mutations are cancers and diseases and that his daughter had a genetic anomaly which is how he got started in genetics in the first place.

Jessica comes to Hal’s hotel room, roughs him up a bit and tells him to go away and never come back.

Claire is practicing her cheerleading when her father (Mr.Bennet aka H.R.G.) comes home with a gift for her. During their discussion he tells Claire that, “your actions make you good or bad.” When they go to check on Claire’s cut hand they find that the wound has already healed.

Matt tells Janice that he has failed the detectives test once again.

Peter believes that he is going to give a deposition against Mr. Linderman but when Nathan arrives he tells him that there won’t be one because their father had just died from a heart attack.

Charlie tells Hiro that she has a blood clot in her brain that is inches away from an aneurism and that she is dying. She tells Hiro that she loves him and when they go to kiss… Hiro is teleported back to the exercise yard on the top of the Yamagoto Industries building where he and Ando work. After a few tries Hiro realizes that he cannot teleport back.

Brian Davis enters Gabriel Gray’s watchmaker shop and shows him his ability to move things by mind control. When he asks his name Gabriel looks at the watch he is working on and tells him that his name is Sylar. As they discuss Davis’ power Sylar strikes him in the head with a crystal paper weight and kills him.
Eden asks H.R.G. what he wants her to do and he replies, “get Claire’s name off Suresh’s list!”

Gabriel Gray (now Sylar) comes back to Chandra Suresh’s apartment and shows him that he can now use his mind to move a glass. Sylar tells Chandra that he can start over and that the people with abilities on his map need to be told that they are different and that they will find them together.

Hiro returns to the Burnt Toast Café in the present through mundane means and tells Ando that he could not save Charlie, that the power was too big for him and that he had failed.

Outro – Mohinder narrates: “This list, these people, their future is written in their DNA. Just as the past, it seems, is written in stone. Was the die cast from the very beginning? Or is it in our own hands to alter the course of destiny? Of all our abilities, it is free will that truly makes us unique. With it, we have a tiny but potent chance to deny fate. And only with it can we find our way back to being human again.”

Re-cap of Episode Chapter Nine: “Homecoming”

Narration (Mohinder): “We are, if anything, creatures of habit, drawn to the safety and comfort of the familiar. But what happens when the familiar becomes unsafe? When the fear that we have been desperately trying to avoid finds us where we live?”

Claire and Zach are enjoying lunch when the principal posts the Homecoming Queen on the school bulletin board. Claire is determined the winner.

Nathan has purchased the painting that Peter wanted so badly but destroys it by throwing a bucket of paint over it. He tells Simone that it is to save Peter’s life.

Jessica practices sharp shooting with a high-powered rifle somewhere in the desert of Nevada.

Somewhere out on Highway 12 in Utah Micah and D.L. Hawkins are on the run from Jessica/Niki. When D.L. tries to enter a restaurant a policeman interrupts him. When he returns to the car Micah is gone.

Mohinder begins his search in Chennai, India for Inyer Sanjog who believes can enter dreams and becomes a spiritual guide.

Simone tells Peter that his brother destroyed the painting but when she questions him on his belief concerning the painting Peter tells her that he must go to save the cheerleader. Simone shows him a digital image of the painting and that the High School was located in Odessa, Texas.

Peters immediately calls Hiro but Ando answers and tells him that they are already in Texas (Midland) and are very close to Odessa. Peter tells him to wait there as he will be there soon.

Isaac finishes the painting but it is of no help to H.R.G. The painting resembles a demon in red with outstretched arms and light coming from its fingertips. HRG tells Eden that the painting is useless and he wants her to convince Isaac to paint another one. Eden refuses. HRG tells Eden to find Sylar and take him out.

Zach tells Claire that he campaigned for her as Homecoming Queen and that she won the freak vote (or unpopular kids). Zach gives Claire a copy of Chandra Suresh’s book “Activating Evolution” and tells her that it has information concerning her ability. When Jackie insults Zach Claire punches her out!

Claire is grounded from the homecoming by her father.

Micah has run away from D.L. to a Greyhound Bus Stop presumably to return back to Nevada to his mother. D.L. catches up with him and Micah tells him that he knows about Jessica.

Mohinder find Inyer playing soccer and confronts him. He tells the young boy that two paths have been presented to him and wants to know which he should take. The boy answers that he already has the answer.

Claire is reading “Activating Evolution” when she gets a text message that Zach ahs come to rescue her from her grounding. Claire tells Zach that he must be her date. In response, Zach tells Claire that she must “embrace her inner freak” and not to deny who she is.

Peter meets Ando at the Burnt Toast Café and Ando tells him what has happened to Charlie and that Hiro has returned to the past to save her. Peter and Ando tell each other that they are really nothing without someone else. It is 7:19pm

Mohinder enters two dreams involving his father and learns that he must continue his father’s research. After making his decision he enter no to the question on the computer (Do you want to quit?) and a password box appears. After trying both “Darwin” and “Sylar” as passwords he tries “Shanti” which works and brings up a list of Heroes and their locations.

Claire runs into Peter at the High School and he asks about Jackie. Claire tells him that she’s not that special and Peter tells Claire that things get better after High School. Usually students select inexperienced custom papers writing firms. Therefore, that is completely not correct, because you are never sure about quality such firms offer. When he exits the building he is standing in the exact spot which Isaac had previously painted. It is 8:02pm.

Sylar (still wearing the broken watch) is seen looking at the same trophy case Peter had just been looking in. Jackie confronts Claire in the locker room and Claire tells Jackie about the tape of the train wreck. An ominous shadow crosses the back of the locker room.

HRG is seen in the amphitheatre of the Union Wells High School.

Peter is standing in front of the sign at Union Wells High School. It is 8:10pm.

In the locker room Sylar grabs Jackie by the throat and begins choking her. Claire jumps on his back but he tosses her aside with no effort. She slams into the wall. Sylar points a finger at Jackie’s head and she begins to lose the top of her skull. Claire stands and her wound instantly begin to heal. Sylar realizes he has killed the wrong cheerleader. Claire runs into Peter coming to her aide when Sylar begins throwing lockers at him (again as painted by Isaac.) Sylar chases Peter and Claire and Peter yells at Claire to find a public place. She runs as Sylar attacks Peter. As Sylar attacks Peter pushes him off the edge of the building and they both fall in a heap. They both appear dead.

When Claire comes to Peter’s aide he sits up and begins reassembling his broken bones and body parts. HRG finds Claire and Claire wants him to go back and help Peter but he refuses.

In the meantime, Sylar is walking away from the school when he meets Eden. When he starts to attack she tells him that he does not want to hurt her and that she wants him to tell her all about himself but first he must go to sleep. The Haitian arrives and puts his patented sleeper hold on Sylar who falls to the ground.

Peter is arrested by the police.

Mohinder tells his mother that he is going back to America to continue his father’s research, to find the Heroes and warn them of the dangers they face.

Micah tells D.L. that he called his mother and we see Jessica in a tree sighting in on D.L. with the high-powered rifle as he enters the car. A gunshot rings out…

Ando sits at the Burnt Toast Café waiting for Hiro…

Hiro appears at Charlie’s birthday party 6 months earlier and tells her that he is there to save her life…

Narration (Mohinder): “We are all at our cause the sum of our fears. To embrace destiny we must, inevitably, face those fears and conquer them. Whether they come from the familiar… or the unknown.”

Back in India to mourn the passing of his father, Suresh encounters mysterious dreams of the past that force him to question what path to take next. Continuing their journey to New York, Hiro and Ando stop at a diner and meet someone interesting. In crisis, Niki comes to a personal understanding. Determined to see one of Isaac's paintings that Simone recently sold, Peter asks Nathan for help in finding a key to the future. Intent on getting back to her normal life, Claire focuses on Homecoming preparations, unaware of what's to come. Meanwhile, H.R.G. and a surprising associate focus their attentions on another "hero."

Mohinder returns home to participate at his father’s funeral, which is held in Kanyakumari, India, the burial ground of Gandhi. Chandra Suresh’s ashes are ceremoniously cast into the ocean.

Isaac awakens in an undisclosed location but is greeted by Eden McCain. She tells him that she is a “facilitator” and that she can help him paint the future without the use of drugs. She assures him that she wants to stop the explosion in New York as much as he does.

At the “Burnt Toast Café” in Midland, Texas Hiro and Ando meet Charlie, a waitress that has a photographic memory. Sylar, who moves his coffee cup by thought, is also in the café.

Mohinder meets up with Mira, an old girlfriend who offers him a position at the company that she works for that does genetic research. Mohinder tells her that he will think about it.

Back at the Burnt Toast Café Hiro and Charlie begin a special friendship, which is portrayed through an unusual filming technique. While a musical score plays the pair converse silently.

Theodore Sprague tells Matt and Audrey that he was not allowed to attend his wife’s funeral and that he probably gave her cancer. Ted becomes upset and the cup of water on the table begins to boil as he becomes angrier. Matt tells Ted about his own ability and the two men show each other the two lines imprinted (or cut) into their necks.

In a dream, Mohinder views himself arguing with his father and then eavesdrops on a discussion between his parents. A young boy, who can see Mohinder enters into the dream.

Ted explains to Matt and Audrey how he blacked out in Kansas and woke up in Tempe, Arizona with this strange ability. He tells Matt that a Haitian student was in the bar when he blacked out.

At the Primatech Paper Company in Odessa, Texas Mr. Bennet enters a secure back room via key card and meets with Isaac. Bennet tells Isaac that his ability is a blessing and that he needs Isaac’s help.

Back at the café Charlie is killed by Sylar who cuts her skull off.

Mohinder is told by his mother that he had an older sister that died at the age of five when he was only two years old and that he was never told about her for fear of comparisons. She also tells him that she was “special.” (We assume this means she had a Heroes ability.)

Bennet tells Isaac that Sylar is killing people with abilities one by one and that his daughter Claire is next in line. He asks Isaac to shoot heroin and finish the painting to help save Claire’s life. Isaac refuses. Bennet also tells Isaac that a group of people are fighting to stop Sylar and that Claire was the child of parents who he failed to help 14 years earlier.

In another dream sequence Mohinder chases the same little boy through his father’s house and out a door only to find himself in an alley in Ney York City. A taxi is parked in the alley and as Mohinder draws closer he sees that his father is being beaten inside the cab. He watches his father die and then sees the watch worn by Sylar as it stops at seven minutes to midnight.

Bennet convinces Eden to “persuade” Isaac to finish the painting and after whispering into his ear Isaac agrees.

Hiro tells Ando that he is going to stop time and try and prevent Charlie’s murder. He tells Ando that he will try and convince Charlie not to go to work on the day of her death. Hiro tells Ando to count to five and he will return but when Ando is done counting Hiro is nowhere to be found.

Mohinder opens his father’s desk and finds folder labeled Iyer Sanjog which contains the picture of the little boy who has been inside his dreams. There are articles concerning dreams and we come to realize that the little boy is also a hero.

In the closing scene we see Isaac painting with eyes of white while Eden looks on, Claire finishes working on her homecoming banner and Ando waits nervously for Hiro’s return.

A photo of Charlie in a black dress with white polka dots under a birthday sign now contains the image of Hiro standing next to her with a very frightened look on his face.

===Episode Analysis===

* Nathan Petrelli apparently has more experience with his power of flight than he has been letting on.
* Nathan fell for the blackmail setup pretty easily, considering that Linderman had "owned his father". Conversely, he quickly seized the moment and blackmailed the blackmailer for an additional 2 million dollars.
* Claire isn't going to be able to hide her ability much longer, considering that she came of a horrendous crash without a mark on her.
* Peter was able to paint the future without the use of drugs. This seems to indicate that Isaac could do the same. He is probably using his "limitation" to justify his addiction.
* Matt still has difficulties controlling his abilities. He can be overwhelmed in crowded places by the "psychic noise".

===Episode Re-cap===

The future Hiro meets Peter on the subway and tells him that he can only stay a short while otherwise he would risk a rift. Hiro instructs Peter to go back to Isaac and find out the location where they need to meet. 

HRG and the Mysterious man have captured Nathan and are taking him to an undisclosed location. When Mrs. Bennet calls HRG to tell him of Claire’s accident Nathan escapes. When they chase him down he flies straight up into the air sub-sonically and then races away in a sonic burst. 

Niki1 is found lying in bed and does NOT have the symbol on her back. Niki2 has completed the task and her debt is now erased. Niki1 cannot believe it but is shown the video as proof. 

Peter cannot convince Mohinder to go back to Isaac’s to “Save the Cheerleader” but instead goes by himself. 

Hiro and Ando are thrown from a van into the outskirts of Las Vegas where they find the “Fly By Night” diner. After an argument Ando leaves and Hiro looking out the window sees Nathan Petrelli land in the parking lot of the diner. 

In the meantime, Matt, using his newly homed ability makes a wonderful evening for his wife. Complete with porterhouse steaks, wine, music and romance. 

Hiro tells Nathan that he too has special powers and tells him that he can bend time. He also tells him that New York explodes and that Nathan wins the election by a landslide. 

HRG hears from Claire that Brody tried to rape her and that this isn’t the first time he’s done it. HRG has a polite talk with Brody, throttles him and then has the mysterious man wipe his entire mind free of memory. 

Peter sets up Isaac’s paintings like the panels to a comic book and sees that an unfinished painting needs to be completed. Isaac wants money for drugs to finish it but Peter looks at the painting and determines that he can finish it himself. His eyes cloud over and he completes the painting. Claire, lying in a pool of blood, with her skull top missing and blood everywhere while the silhouette of a man looks over her body. 

When Niki comes home a houseful of policeman are there waiting. They are very interested in D.L. as he has escaped custody. Niki asks for protection and the policemen get set to spring a trap. When someone comes in the back door the police et there trap only to catch Ando visiting Niki. He tells her that he thought she could help and that he found her information on “Whois” lookup. The police let Ando go. 

Later, D.L. phases into Niki’s house. 

Ando finds Hiro in the parking structure of the casino and asks him if they should try calling the painter again. When they do Peter answers the phone and tells them that he has a message for them…

* In the opening monologue Mohinder says, “When a change comes, some species feel the urge to migrate. They call it zugunruhe. A pull of the soul to a far-off place. Following a scent in the wind, a star in the sky. The ancient message comes, calling the kindred to take flight and gather together. Only then can they hope to survive the cruel season to come.

* When Hiro stops time on the subway and Peter scans the crowd Hiro can be seen standing and reading a newspaper.

Peter is talking to Charles Deveaux in his apartment when he tells him that he loves him. Peter tells Charles that he can fly and appears to jump out the window but Peter wakes up from a dream in his apartment. Simone rings his doorbell and tells him that her father has just passed away.

Zach tells Claire that he has found the missing tape and returns it to her. Claire's brother Lyle finds the tape.

Niki wakes up on the floor and discovers that D. L. and Micah are gone. She looks into the mirror and asks her alter ego for help.

Matt hears his wife thinking and it is not good news.

Simone and Peter visit Isaac’s studio only to find that he is gone as are his most recent paintings. Simone tells Peter that the last conversation she had with her father was about Peter and that the two of them were flying and that Peter told him that everything was going to be OK and that he would save the world. Simone tells Peter that the missing painting was sold to "a guy named Linderman."

We discover that Nathan’s wife is wheelchair bound and that she is working with him to help win the campaign for Congress. An interview with a prominent journalist has been set.

Audrey tells Matt that Sylar has killed again. When they reach the morgue they find a body burned beyond recognition. A finger print matching those one Theodore Spragus is found seared to the bone on the body and Audrey mistakes the murder for the work of Sylar.

Niki tells Tina that her alter ego is named Jessica and that she has asked her to come out and help her find Micah.

In the desert Micah tells D.L. that “Heroes don’t run away! Heroes help people!” and that he thinks that he is a bad man. Up ahead in the road an accident has occurred. D.L. and Micah stop to help just as Hiro and Ando pull up to the scene. A car is on fire and a woman is trapped inside the locked vehicle. D.L. phase shifts through the window, opens the door from the inside and pulls the woman out. Just as D.L. is pulling the woman out of the car it erupts in an explosion. Hiro stops time and moves everyone out of harms way just as the car explodes after time resumes.

At Nathan's brunch party a journalist asks some very hard questions concerning the accident that caused Nathan’s wife to become wheelchair bound and Nathan’s trip to Las Vegas, including a blonde woman. Peter lies to the journalist telling him that they were there for Peter’s mental well-being and that the woman was a doctor.

Hiro tells Micah about his ability to stop time and shows him the yet to be released comic book with Hiro as the star. D.L. Tells Micah that they can never go back.

Claire convinces her brother to return the missing tape which he does when Claire tells him that they won’t ever be a family again if he tells anyone what he has seen.

Matt and Audrey Hanson enter Theodore Sprague’s home to find burned items everywhere. Pictures have faces burned off. The computer keyboard is scorched in places and the door to the bedroom is black with burn marks. When Matt and Audrey enter the bedroom it is entirely black with burns.

The journalist tell Nathan that he has heard rumors that the Linderman Group has invested in his campaign fund but that Linderman has ties to the mob. Nathan tells him that his father was in business with Linderman.

Matt and Audrey find chemotherapy prescriptions for Karen Sprague and that the doctor was Robert Fresco, the burn victim in the morgue. Matt tells Audrey that Sprague is not Sylar and they head off to the hospital to find him. They confront Theodore in the hospital room of his dying wife. Sprague grabs a nurse for protection and burns her badly but he releases her when Matt convinces him that he can hear Karen’s thoughts. After Karen Sprague dies Theodore surrenders.

Niki calls Nathan for help locating Micah but he tells her that he cannot help. When his wife confronts him about what happened in Vegas he confirms Peter’s lies. Niki breaks the mirror in her room and Jessica appears (Helix symbol tattoo visible on her back.)

Nathan calls Linderman to retrieve the missing painting but he refuses to sell it back. Nathan goes to Peter to tell him the bad news. He also explains that his power is useless and that it won’t make a difference. Nathan also tells Peter about the attempted kidnapping by HRG and MBG.

Sprague is being photographed for his mug shot when a close-up reveals two small “slash/cut” marks on his neck. We also see Matt Parkman with similar marks on his shoulder.

Micah sneaks away from D.L., “fixes” a broken phone by thinking about it and calls Niki. He tells her their location. Jessica loads a clip into her hand gun...

* The newspaper which Peter is reading in Charles Deveaux’s apartment is dated Thursday, November 2nd 2006 and the lead story is entitled, “Skies Clear For Solar Eclipse.” The newspaper is the New York Epigraph(?).

Peter and Isaac are discussing the paintings in Isaac’s studio when the phone rings. Peter answers it to find Hiro and Ando on the other end. Peter tells Hiro that he has a message for him: “Save the cheerleader!” When Hiro does not understand the message Peter tells him to come to New York and they’ll sort it when they get there.

Claire finds out that her “father” has set-up a meeting with her biological parents.

Niki wakes up in her home to find D.L. already inside and waiting for her. He tells her that they are still a family.

The high-roller cowboy stops Hiro and Ando in the parking lot of the casino and offers them a way to make some money and pay off the debt owed. While Ando and Hiro are cheating at cards Ando discovers a gun under the table pointed directly at him. He and Hiro run off to the restroom when the poker room erupts in violence. Hiro and Ando escape out a window. From the sound of the carnage we can only assume that Niki2 has found more of Linderman’s gang.

Mohinder explains to Eden that he is through searching for his father’s ghosts and that he needs to return to India to bury his father’s remains. Eden tells Mohinder that he’ll be back and ensure it when she kisses him.

Niki and D.L. visit the site of the poker game but the damage has already been done. When they return home Niki tells D.L. about the scene in her garage.

Claire’s biological parents visit and Claire tries to get information from them about whether or not they are special. This tactic does not work. When HRG and Mrs. Bennet are in the kitchen getting lemonade his phone rings and we hear the very familiar voice of Eden McKenzie and find out that she is working for, or with Mr. Bennet. She knows about Peter and his flying, about the “guy who can bend space/time” and about Isaac’s precognitive powers. When she tells HRG that Peter said “Save the cheerleader!” his face goes white. Eden is told to “reel in the precog.” HRG escorts Claire’s “bio-parents” out to their car and we find out that they too are plants.

Hiro doubts his worthiness as a true hero but Ando convinces him that every hero has to start somewhere. They jump into their rented Nissan Versa and start on their long journey to New York.

After a discussion about her childhood with her mother Claire becomes suspicious of her “father” and begins to understand that HRG has lied to her.

Niki retrieves the 2 million dollars from the attic where Niki2 had hidden it. D.L. finds her with the cash and accuses her of framing him. Niki2 comes to the front and attacks D.L. After a short fight D.L. phase shifts his hand into Niki2’s chest and knocks her unconscious. D.L. and Micah flee the house.

Isaac uncovers a portion of a painting of Niki that he has completed and we see the symbol on Niki2’s back. When Isaac answers his door we find Eden waiting for him…

The symbol appears to be a shadow (or an eclipse) of the human DNA helix. The intersecting horizontal lines seem to be markers where the DNA has mutated. This is possibly the super-genome or a “new” or “mutated” protein that identifies the Heroes. It can be found in too many locations to be a mere coincidence. Is it a calling card to those with special powers? And will they rally around it?

Urged on by his instructor, Dominick Cabalo, Isaac honed his art skills and took various summer classes to help develop his craft. It wasn’t until high school when he began winning illustration contests. 
With even more classes in illustration and art design classes under his belt, Isaac moved to New York and soon after, high school took various courses in college for comic book illustration. 
It wasn’t until the annual New York Comic-Convention that he caught the eye of Comacho Comics and they hired him on the spot.

A glimpse of the future… And Patient Zero!

[[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] wakes up in the hospital with [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] at his side. Nathan tries to convince Peter that he did not fly and that Peter’s attempt at flight was really a suicide attempt. Nathan tells him that he landed on a fire escape, which saved his life. Peter doesn’t believe a word of it.

[[Claire Bennet|Claire]] tells her father that she is interested in learning the identities of her birth parents. [[Mr. Bennet|Mr. Bennet]] tells Claire he will do whatever it takes to help. (Note: Mr. Bennet is also the same man with horn-rimmed glasses who has been digging into Chandra Suresh's research.)

[[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] walks in on an “exterminator” in his apartment who is really an intruder planting a listening device. Mohinder chases him into the hall where he loses his gun. The gun is picked up by a girl named Eden McKenzie who sends the intruder on his way. Eden reveals that she knew his father.

[[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] is walking by a news stand in New York, where he spots a copy of a 9th Wonders comic book with his picture on the cover. After stealing the comic, he finds that the story is a perfect retelling of his exploits in Japan and subsequent arrival in New York. He finds the writer/artist's name and address on the final page. The writer is [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac Mendez]] .

[[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] is in bed recovering from his near fatal heroin overdose. He tries to convince Simone that his vision of New York's desctruction is true, but she doesn't believe him. She makes him choose between her and his paintings.

After [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] wakes up two find two thugs dead in her garage, Niki drives to pick up her son. On the way, she views the tape in her camera while at a stoplight. The tape shows nothing but static accompanied by the sounds of graphic violence. Suddenly, it is four hours later, and Niki is in an airport parking lot. She has no memory of the intervening time. She decides to run before Linderman finds out about his henchmen.

[[Claire Bennet|Claire]] is at school flirting with a football player when she is summoned by the Principal. The fire department is looking for the cheerleader that saved the man in the train wreck. Claire doesn't want to be recognized as the hero, luckily one of the other cheerleader decides to claim the credit for the deed. Claire’s videographer Zach reveals that he has lost the tape of her healing abilities.

[[Niki Sanders|Niki]] returns to her home with her son, Micah only to find the garage cleaned up and the keys to a Cadillac parked out in front of the house. In the glove compartment she finds a pink slip with her name on it and a note that tells her to follow the map in the trunk. The trunk of the Cadillac contains the map and the remains of the two mobsters. Niki follows the map to a secluded area in the desert and finds a shovel sticking out of the dirt. When she begins digging she reveals a decaying skull.

[[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] is still in the hospital, drawing a sketch on some paper when his mother comes to visit. She tells him that his father was clinically depressed and that he killed himself after multiple suicide attempts. She thinks that Peter is going down the same path.

[[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] decides to find [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] and visits his studio. When he gets there he finds a room full of paintings of the same symbol and a very gruesome site. A gun is lying on the floor next to a running puddle of blood. Hiro picks up the gun follows the trail of blood and finds Isaac's body. He is lying on the floor with the top of his head sawn off and his brain is missing. Suddenly the police storm the apartment and detain Hiro at gunpoint.

[[Matt Parkman|Matt Parkman]], a police officer, is assigned traffic duty outside the home of a murdered couple. While on duty he hears the voice of a little girl. He enters the home and finds the child hiding but not before he sees the mother impaled to the wall and the father frozen with the top of his head sawn off and his brain missing. The name “Sylar” is discussed by a few policewomen talking and Parkman is questioned. He can't explain how he knew the girl's location, so he is arrested on suspicion of the murders.

[[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] and [[Eden McKenzie|Eden]] discuss his father’s work and theories. She notices that Chandra Suresh has voice mails… one of Nathan Petrelli soliciting votes and the other of Sylar. Sylar has apparently developed powers of his own and is using them to kill. Eden also finds a portable hard drive, which shows a genetic code scrolling across the screen. Inside the code we see the same symbol that Isaac has painted.

When [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] returns home after school, her father tells her that he started the process to locate her birth parents, but that it could "take some time". After she leaves, we find out the Mr. Bennet has the missing tape and is watching the scene of her miraculous recovery after the fall.

[[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] confronts [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] on the roof of a building. While he is pre-occupied with his anger he walks off the ledge towards Nathan and floats in mid-air. We see for the first time that Peter can also fly! This is the same scene that Peter sketched while in the hospital, before it happened.

[[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] is being questioned at Isaac’s apartment and finds out that he has been missing for five weeks and that instead of October 2nd it is now November 8th. During the questioning there is an incredible explosion and the wake can be seen moving towards Hiro and the building he is in. As the explosion threatens to consume him he teleports back to Tokyo.

As a total eclipse casts its shadow across the globe, a genetics professor in India is led by his father's disappearance to uncover a secret theory -- there are people with super powers living among us. A young dreamer tries to convince his politician brother that he can fly. A high school cheerleader learns that she is totally indestructible. A single mother struggles to make ends meet to support her young son, discovers that her mirror image has a secret. A gifted artist, whose drug addiction is destroying his life and relationship with his girlfriend, can paint the future. Chapter One: “Genesis” 

New York City - [[Peter Petrelli|Peter Petrelli]], an in-home nurse, is caring for [[Simone Deveaux|Simone Deveaux’s]] dying father. [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] tells [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] that her father has only a few more days to live. 

Madras, India - [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder Suresh]], tells his classroom that rapid evolution is happening right now and that man is entering a new gateway to evolution. An associate interrupts the class to tell [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] that his father has died in New York City. [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] thinks his father was killed because of his research and theories and that he tracked [[Sylar|Patient Zero]] to New York before his death. He wants to finish what his father started. At his father’s apartment [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] finds that a man with horned rimmed glasses is there going through his father’s research. He takes a picture of the map on the wall and a folder full of research and leaves before being detected. 

Las Vegas, Nevada - [[Niki Sanders|Niki Sanders]], performs a striptease act in front of the camera which is plugged into a laptop computer. [[Niki Sanders|Niki's]] reflection in the mirror seems to have motion of it owns accord. When unexpected visitors break down her door [[Niki Sanders|Niki]]and her son, [[Micah Sanders|Micah]] run. 

Odessa, Texas – A video camera catches [[Claire Bennet|Claire Bennet]], as she falls/jumps from an 80 foot tower. [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] is unhurt and re-sets her own dislocated shoulder with no obvious signs of pain. 

New York City – [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]], visits his brother [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan Petrelli]], at his campaign headquarters. When [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] tells [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] of his perceived ability to fly [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] dismisses it. [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] receives a phone call and tells [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] that their mother has been arrested for shoplifting. 

Odessa, Texas – [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] and her videographer, [[Zach|Zach]] discuss her ability and what it means. [[Zach|Zach]] sees [[Claire Bennet|Claire's]], rapid cellular regeneration first hand as she pushes her ribs back into her body and it instantly heals. 

Tokyo, Japan – A heavily concentrating [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro Nakamura]] stares at his clock which stops and backs up for one second. [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] tells his co-worker, [[Ando Masahashi|Ando Masahashi]], that he has broken the space/time continuum but is not believed. 

Las Vegas, Nevada – At the school in which [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] has enrolled her son, [[Micah Sanders|Micah]], [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] unsuccessfully tries to retrieve twenty-five thousand dollars which she had donated to the school. [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] again encounters her mirror-double. 

New York City – [[Angela Petrelli|Angela Petrelli]], informs her sons that the charges were dropped. [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] is worried about what this will do to his image for the upcoming Congressional race. Angela tells [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] that he hero-worshipped his brother but [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] thinks it’s a biological connection. 

Las Vegas, Nevada – [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] takes [[Micah Sanders|Micah]] to her friend’s house. [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] tells Tina that she borrowed money from [[Mr. Linderman|Linderman]] but also tells Tina that she feels someone is watching her. 

Odessa, Texas – A train has derailed and [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] runs into a ferocious fire to test her ability. Once inside she finds a victim of the wreck and drags him to safety. 

Brooklyn, New York – [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] makes his way to New York and rents his father’s old apartment. He begins reading his father’s research material and begins to reconstruct the map his father kept in India. While working on the map he finds a cassette tape with the word “SYLAR” printed on the label. 

New York City – [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac Mendez]] is dumping black paint on a finished painting when [[Simone Deveaux|Simone Deveaux]] enters the studio and stops him from destroying his paintings. Isaac tells her that his paintings are foretelling the future. After an argument [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] sends [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] away. [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] then views a breaking news report on TV showing the train derailment in Odessa, Texas. The camera pans to his painting of the same scene. 

New York City – [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] is successful in hiding his mothers shoplifting arrest and then offers [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] a job recruiting for the campaign. He again dismisses [[Peter Petrelli|Peter's]] ideas about flying. Peter flags down the cab that [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] is driving and they talk about the solar eclipse, about being special and natural selection. 

In a video montage we see: 
Odessa, Texas - [[Zach|Zach]] and [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] discuss saving the man’s life. 
Tokyo, Japan – [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] exercises and looks up at the eclipse. 
Las Vegas, Nevada – [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] returns to her ransacked home. 
New York City – [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] drives his cab and [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] looks up at the eclipse. 
Odessa, Texas – [[Zach|Zach]] and [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] look up at the solar eclipse. 
Tokyo, Japan – [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] looks up at the eclipse. 
New York City – [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] shoots up again. 

Las Vegas, Nevada – [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] picks up [[Micah Sanders|Micah's]] pinhole camera and looks up at the eclipse. [[Mr. Linderman|Linderman's]] thugs are still in the house and seize her as she tries to flee. The thugs force [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] to perform her act as the camera rolls. She sees her double in the mirror again and the thug turns violent and punches her. 

Tokyo, Japan – [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] and [[Ando Masahashi|Ando]], discuss the possibility of bending time space and about teleportation at a karaoke bar. 

Las Vegas, Nevada – [[Niki Sanders|Niki]] awakens when the phone rings and finds that [[Mr. Linderman|Linderman's]] thugs have been gruesomely murdered. She takes the video camera but not before she sees her blood-covered double in the mirror putting her finger to her lips in the universal sign for quiet. 

New York City – [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] calls [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] who is still in [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder's]] cab and asks him if he can meet her at her father’s home. As Peter exits the cab HRG enters and tells Mohinder that he is going to JFK airport. [[Mr. Bennet|HRG]], tells [[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] that he knew of a brilliant Professor of Genetics named Suresh in Madras, India. Mohinder slams on the brakes and runs away. 

Odessa, Texas – [[Claire Bennet|Claire's]] mother and brother sit at the table eating. When [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] is asked if she did anything special today she replies by saying, “I walked through fire and I didn’t get burned.” Mrs. Bennet believes [[Claire Bennet|Claire]]is speaking metaphorically and responds about facing fears. 

Tokyo, Japan – [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] gets thrown out of the bar after teleporting into the ladies room. [[Ando Masahashi|Ando]] does not believe [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] and they argue. As [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] walks away [[Ando Masahashi|Ando]] calls him, “Super-Hiro.” 

New York City – [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] searches her sick father’s home for morphine. [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] tries to tell her that he feels special but [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] is on a mission to help Isaac. 

Odessa, Texas – [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] is washing dishes when her school ring falls into the garbage disposal. She reaches into the disposal to retrieve the ring and removes a mangled bloody hand. In moments her hand heals. [[Claire Bennet|Claire]] also tells her mother that she wants to know who her real parents are. [[Claire Bennet|Claire's]] father comes home and we find that it is HRG himself! 

Tokyo, Japan – A dejected [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] rides the subway and upon seeing an advertisement for New York closes his eyes and concentrates. The clock over his head begins to move and [[Hiro Nakamura|Hiro]] finds that he has teleported himself to Times Square, New York City. 

New York City – [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] and [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] make their way to [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac’s]] studio and [[Simone Deveaux|Simone]] tells [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] of [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac’s]] belief that he can paint the future. When they get to [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac’s]] they find that [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] has already injected himself with heroin and has overdosed. [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] finds a painting of himself flying that [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] had previously painted and begins to believe. [[Isaac Mendez|Isaac]] has painted an explosion in New York City on the floor. He regains consciousness long enough to say, “We have to stop it!” 

Epilogue: 

[[Mohinder Suresh|Mohinder]] narrates: “This quest, this need to solve life’s mysteries… in the end what does it matter when the human heart can only find meaning in the smallest of moments. They’re here, among us. In the shadows. In the light. Everywhere! Do they even know yet?” 

New York City – [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] gets out of a cab in an alley somewhere in New York. A cell phone falls out of the air and lands on the pavement at his feet. [[Peter Petrelli|Peter]] yells down to his brother that he has been up on the building all night thinking about his destiny. He steps off the building and as he is falling [[Nathan Petrelli|Nathan]] flies up to catch him!

As the "Heroes" continue to test their newfound extraordinary abilities, Claire tries to maintain a normal social life when a romance with the football quarterback takes a tragic turn. While Hiro convinces his friend that they are destined to travel to America to save the world, a frightened Niki follows instructions from a mysterious, unknown source that directs her to the middle of the desert. Meanwhile, Nathan uses Peter's accident to propel his political campaign. The elusive Sylar is being hunted by both Matt and the FBI, as well as Suresh, whose father's journal leads to potential clues.

===Episode Recap===
Niki has finished her ritual in the desert and sets off to confront Micah’s paternal grandmother. 

Claire prepares for a High school rally as her friend Jackie decides to run for class president based on her newfound popularity. 

Hiro asks his co-worker, Ando, to help him save the world starting with the life of a young girl. Peter practices his flying skills but only falls. 

Later, Peter shows Nathan a book by Chandra Suresh called “Activating Evolution” and wants Nathan to help him locate Dr. Suresh. 

Eden visits Mohinder and we see that Mohinder has possession of the “exterminators” gun. Mohinder gets angry and throws the laptop computer. Eden finds a notebook written by Dr. Suresh with some very interesting notations. The least of which is Sylar’s address. 

Meanwhile, Matt is being “interviewed” by Audrey Hanson. After reading her thoughts Audrey invites Matt to work for the FBI. 

Zach tries to convince Claire to take up the life of a superhero but Claire wishes only to be normal. 

Isaac and Simone argue and Simone leaves Isaac. Hiro tries to make contact with Isaac over the phone but Isaac hangs up on him. 

Hiro convinces Ando to help him when he stops time and saves the little girl’s life. 

While visiting D.L.’s mother Niki tells us that D.L. took 2 million dollars from Linderman and then killed his own crew. 

Molly Walker, the little girl traumatized by Sylar in Episode 2 is almost kidnapped by a man in a baseball cap and dark clothes. When Audrey Hanson confronts the man she is mentally thrown back against a wall and points her gun at her own head. Matt comes in and shoots the man numerous times. The man stands up and teleports away. 

Mohinder and Eden break into Sylar’s apartment and find strange writing on the wall. There is also a map with at least 5 photographs of people with the symbol printed on the photos. One of the pictures is Nathan Petrelli. 

Hiro and Ando fly to America guided by the 9th Wonders! comic book that Hiro obtained in the future. 

At the High School rally Brody tells Claire that he knows she is looking for her birth parents. During a make-out session Brody attempts to rape Claire but when he pushes her she falls and a tree branch punctures her skull. 

Niki and Micah are pulled over by the police who inform her that Linderman wants to talk to her. 

At Nathan’s political rally he tells everyone that Peter tried to commit suicide and that he is there to help him. Peter tells Simone that he loves her. 

Hiro and Ando arrive in L.A. and Hiro demands a Nissan Versa at the car rental counter. Ando is watching Niki on his iPod when the website lasvegasniki.com is seen on the screen. 

After an argument with his wife Matt goes to the bar and while listening to the thoughts of the patrons comes across a mysterious man that is impervious to his powers. The mysterious man’s mind is suspiciously silent. 

Mohinder brings the police to Sylar’s apartment only to find that it has been emptied. 

Isaac opens a drawing pad filled with images of Simone and turns to a page where she is kissing Peter. 

Claire wakes up on a table in the morgue after her autopsy has already begun!

* Could D.L. be on the run after escaping from prison? That possibility exists. But why was he in prison? Could he have taken the fall for one of Niki’s earlier mirror-double murders? Matt Parkman has been captured by HRG and the mysterious man. HRG confesses to drugging Matt and tells him that they are testing his Resting Rate. HRG directs the mysterious man to “Go deep, clean him out!”

Hiro and Ando arrive in Las Vegas and are ensnared by the sound and lights. Niki and Micah pass Hiro and Ando in the casino on their way to see Linderman. Linderman, it seems, will rescind Niki’s debt if she will only keep Nathan busy.

Claire awakes in the morgue in the middle of her own autopsy but finds a way to escape. Isaac contemplates his gift while Peter and Simone “come together.” Nathan is confronted by Mohinder Suresh but calls his body guards to take him away. Nathan tells Peter that he was contacted by Suresh and that he should make himself scarce for awhile.

Claire lies to her “father” (HRG) about what she was doing with Brody. Mohinder receives a box that contains the ashes of his father. Hiro uses his powers to cheat and make some cash at the casino. Peter finds Mohinder and Eden and tells them that he thinks his power is that he can use others powers when he is in their vicinity!

Isaac tells Simone that he is going to be a hero. Zach and Claire have a discussion in which Zach thinks Claire can be “rebooted.” His pet name for her now is “Little miss miracle grow!” Niki meets Nathan in the bar at the casino which has been staged.

We learn during a discussion between Peter and Mohinder that Mohinder believes in his fathers work and that he too is a geneticist. We also find out that Lori Trammel was also raped by Brody Mitchell. Isaac shoots up and sees Claire running from Uluru sometime near Homecoming. Hiro and Ando are thrown out of the casino and Hiro is punched.

Nathan and Niki spend some time together but when the moment comes Niki says she can’t and Nathan understands. On her way out Niki is assaulted by one of Linderman’s stooges but Niki2 come to the front and throws him around the elevator. She gives him warning and then goes back to Nathan’s hotel room to finish what Niki1 started.

While Peter and Mohinder return from an unsuccessful visit to Isaacs apartment Peter finds that time has stopped and that he alone seems not to be effected. Claire meets Brody after school and asks him for a ride home. She then asks to drive. During a conversation in which Brody admits to raping Lori and Claire, Claire drives the car at high speed into a wall.

HRG and the mysterious man end up in Nathan’s hotel room standing over a sleeping Nathan and Niki. HRG tells the mysterious man to take just the one. Peter is met by a very confident and self-possessed future Hiro who tells him that he has a message for him.
