It was one of the first PPV's in a long time to not feature both Massacre and Mayhem on the night, this was confirmed to be due to backstage problems with Massacre GM Chris Jericho as he was called away from his duties before he could book any matches. It was also the second event to feature DXX Rated, this time giving them three matches as opposed to their previous two. Genocide also saw the debut of new General Manager of Mayhem, Lord Lucas Mitchell who had taken over from Nabeel Nawaz who had quit earlier that month after a slump in ratings. Because of this Mitchell had decided to host No.1 Contenders Matches in the hope of soon crowning a new DXX Universe Champion.
