Mick Foley had interfered in the match and Matt was able to pick up the win and he still holds the title to this day. Then two weeks before Facing Extinction Matt was involved in a tournament to find out who will become the new DXX World Champion. Matt's opponent was the Intercontinental Champion Kenny Wallace. This was going to be a tough test for Matt as this was a champion Vs Champion match. Plus Kenny had been around DXX longer. Matt was able to pick up a convincing win. With this it set up a match at Facing Extinction against two men he had faced in the past. Shad Moss and Tristagi.
