You decide to head upstairs. As you pass by the entrance, you notice the bouncer regard you for a moment with an enigmatic and crooked smile. Taking the stairs, you find yourself in a large L-shaped upper floor, dim now, like the rest of the bar. At the corner, there is a stage, which is currently empty.
Between the stairs and the stage are tables and chairs, a few of which are taken by one or more patrons, none of which are really looking at you. You're confused for a moment - you know you saw a lot more people head upstairs before now, but there doesn't seem to be many people around. You remember the four guys who entered at about the same time as you, and you saw them come up here, but they're nowhere to be seen.
Then you notice that there's a curtained area off from the booths, the room beyond which you can't see, and it occurs to you that maybe everyone went back there. You've never been into the "backroom" of a bar before. It's a little nerve wracking.
