"What are you doing here?" you ask.

"I am waiting," she replies, "to ask a question. Are you ready now to answer it."

You turn, and look back up the cliff. The height is dizzying. The top cuts a distant line against the sky like a frown. The woman laughs gently. "If you were a bird, you would still become tired climbing so high."
