To your unpleasant surprise, Nancy shakes her head and says, "You make me work to much as it is and now you want me to do more. No."
Your wife remains calm at she says, "Yes, we want you to do more. We want you to take responsibility to help the business grow. We are planning on leaving the business to you, but you have to understand everything about it in order to run it."
You see your daughter thinking it over. You know she must have thought about taking over the business, but never came out and told her it was possible. She shakes her head again and says, "I can't do that. It is your business and I don't want any part of it. I just want to live my life."
You know it is time to step in if you are going to salvage the plan. You look into your daughter's blue eyes, so much like her mother's, and say, "If you learn about the business, then you can take it any direction you want. You can live your life and help the business."
You see she is starting to come around and you know your wife will owe you far more if you salvage the plan. She says,"I don't know. It would be nice to run things my way, but I still need time for me."
Your wife says, "I know you need time for you, but your father and I want to see you more involved. If this is going to be yours, then you need to learn about everything. You can't fix something if you don't know where it goes wrong. We aren't saying you need to do everything, but just a little more for now."
