You stop and spend some time examining the various tracks left in the clay around the stream. Several are very easy to identify, including deer and elk tracks. While smaller more prevalent tracks can be found for tiny woodland creatures such as squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, and mice. In your investigation you also at one point stumble upon some fairly fresh wolf prints, a clear sign of danger in this forest.

After spending some time rooting through the mud you return to the tasks at hand.
