Walking around for so long has exhausted your energy. Spent, you withdraw up the stairs and return to bed - content to just rest for the remainder of the day.

It is dark when you wake up. Through a curtained window you can hear the snowstorm still raging on outside, but otherwise the room is cast in an eery silence - interrupted only by thumping footsteps coming up the stairs. The noise of creaking floorboards comes closer and closer down the hallway until you finally hear it stop abruptly outside your doors, whereon keys begin to scramble. Someone is trying to enter unannounced.

An instinct forces your entire body to stiffen - as if to look like you're still sleeping. It must have worked, because the intruders whisper in hushed tones as they sneak in. It is difficult to make their appearances out, but the starlight strikes gleams on their naked steel and horned helmets. Janus' familiar voice eagerly hisses:

"See? I told you it was him! And he's still sleeping."

"So what if he is." another voice grunts, unimpressed. You recognize the deep voice as belonging to the red-haired bandit from a few days back. "Damn you, Janus. You bring us out here to kidnap a whelp? I ought to kill you here and now for waking me up for this nonsense."

"It's no nonsense!" Janus angrily replies. "I was born and raised as a palace slave in the Seven Mountains. When I found him outside I knew right away that he was my countryman. But when he showed me his money I saw just how much he looked like the king; whose likeness was printed on those gold coins. I did some thinking, and remembered how a prince had been born right before I ran away from my homeland all those years ago. Today, that prince would be just as old as this sleeping boy in front of us!"

"So what?"

"Don't you see?! This isn't just some nameless wanderer. This is Faust Kaladaris! Prince of the Seven Mountains! You can ransom him back for more gold than any of you would see in a lifetime!"


Your pulse grows quicker. If the bandits take you, you'll be thrown right back into the hands of your brothers. They'd flog you to death in the public square for your crimes. Being kidnapped from these dogs is no option. Acting on pure impulse, you:
