"Come on in, John," you call out.
You hear him open the door and close it behind him. You also hear him place something down, but are not certain what it is. You think it is his bag that he carries work items in, when he needs to work away from home, since he also uses it to carry movies with him whenever he comes over to watch movies.
Before he can ask where you are, you say, "I'm in the kitchen."
"OK," he responds from somewhere else in the house.
You hear him walk into the kitchen, but don't turn to greet him. You are almost done with the tea.
"Are you looking forward to our aunt, nephew day?" you ask.
"More than you know," he says. There is something in his voice, but you can't place it.
After pouring two glasses you turn around and catch his eyes coming up quick to greet you. You don't think anything about it as you hand him his glass and the two of you walk into the living room.
