You summon all your strength to call a lightning bolt to strike the now-faraway tentacle-monster. However, long distance magic takes up much energy to use, and the effort kills you. Nice try!

Meanwhile, the monster feels a slight jolt, but proceeds to move towards the town to crush the townspeople, only sparing your scantily-clad girlfriend for other reasons.
