I would choose Mom
From Create Your Own Story
The loud beeping of my alarm clock brought me back to consciousness. I quickly pressed the button hoping that no one heard anything. The clock read 12 a.m. It was time to begin my operation.
I would usually be groggy, but today was different. Recently I found this new game, and it looked awesome. I get giddy just thinking about it. I spent the whole day trying to download it, and when I finally finished with everything it was 10, my bed time. “Arghh! I can’t wait a whole night! That’s impossible!” That would require the self- control of a god.
Silently I crept out of bed and began working on the first obstacle, opening the door. Unfortunately my door creaks like the ones in scary movies. Good thing I found a way to silence it. I quickly got to work, every second spent on this door was a second not spent on gaming. First I grabbed the handle, then I began pushing and pressing it against the hinges. Then I slowly opened it, and moved on to the second obstacle, my dad.
Getting to the computer would mean getting past my dad. For some reason he sleeps on the couch and watches the stairs which just so happens to be between my room and the computer. For as long as I could remember he would usually sleep on the couch and mom would sleep in her room. That’s right… Usually I would have another obstacle, my mom. Her room was right across the hall and she would usually wake up in the middle of the night for no reason at all. However, a month ago she left and began living elsewhere. Good thing too, with her out of the way, my rate of success rose by 10%.
Suddenly I heard a large crash. It was the sound of a bowl thrown with full force at the floor. What in the world is going on? Curious, I didn’t have to move far out to hear what was going on. Mom’s here? And she’s fighting with Dad again? Blah, Blah apparently Dad earns all of the money and puts food on the table, whereas Mom does all of the housework. That was pretty much all I could understand because they were speaking in Chinese. Gah this means I can’t play my game, nooooooo! Dejected I went back to sleep.
The next day, my world was torn apart.
”We’re going on a vacation” said Dad. “and you can choose either to go to Taiwan or Los Angeles. I’ll be going to Taiwan, and Mom will be going to Los Angeles.
“Why?” I asked. I hated vacations, every second spent “having fun” was time not spent actually having fun.
“Because I said so” answered my mom. And that was usually how it ended. However this time instead of going along as a family I had to choose between them. This was a difficult choice for me. My dad was slack which wasn’t that great but I would be able to game. However, he was going to Taiwan, a new country with a different culture and everything. In addition it was in the city too. On the other hand my mom was strict which would be good for my future career, but I wouldn’t be able to game as much as I wanted.
I had to choose
