"Get me the Deflecting Defensive Module. Let's try making him attack us," you say.

<System: Selection confirmed. DDM transponder located. Activating recall device. >

First the outline, then a flash later and it appears on the wrist of your robot's left hand. It's essentially a small, blue metal box that can be activated to project a deflector shield around your robot to, well, deflect incoming attacks. And you could even use it under the right circumstances to reflect an attack right back at someone.

You control your machine poorly for the next minute or two, purposely making it stumble, sway, and avoiding any sort of attacks to make it appear as though you're lower on energy than you actually are.

Your opponent buys into it and drops to one knee as a large cannon rises up over his other shoulder.

<System: Warning. Energy buildup detected. >

An energy cannon, even better. Those things are the easiest things to reflect. You poorly maneuver your giant robot in a false attempt to remove the target lock he has on you.

<System: Energy buildup peaking. He can fire at any moment. >

"Alright, calculate the angles. Show me where I need to go and get ready to knock that shot right back at him," you instruct the AI while reaching around the cockpick and toggling a few switches, shifting more energy into your shields and the device.

A few markers appear on your HUD and you 'stumble' in the direction they point. You're just reaching the last one when a solid, purple beam of energy erupts from your opponent's shoulder cannon and streaks across the arena straight toward you. The reason he kneeled becomes readily apparent as the force of the cannon firing pushes him back slightly, he probably dumped a huge amount of energy into that blast.

At the last possible second, you shift your robot's position so the beam will hit you on the correct angle and activate the deflecting device. A V-shaped field of blue energy appears just in front of you. Your AI makes a few last-minute adjustments and the beam slams into the field of energy.

It bounces off the one side, then the other side, then rockets straight back toward your opponent. Alarms blare inside your cockpit as your robot is pushed back a few feet too and your shield is clipped by the beam.

<System: Warning. Shields down to 30%. Recommend we not try that again. Energy reserves down to 15%. >

You look on with eager anticpation as the beam gets closer, and closer to your opponent. At the very last second, panels open up on his side and maneuvering jets fire to push him out of the way. It isn't enough. The beam clips the side of his shield and throws him back and to the side. It continues on and strikes one of the arena's outer walls causing a large explosion that shakes the ground under your feet.

<System: Enemy condition is critical. Recommend finishing this battle quickly. >

<System: Attention. Transponder signals for offensive ordinance can be detected again. However, energy consumption data will be unavailable. Recommend excercising caution. >

You just can't catch a break. Two possible attacks spring to mind, one big and fancy, and one small and simple but requires going and getting up into your opponent's face.
