Not wanting to get another kid involved in case she might be one of those overprotective types and ruin your chances, you try convincing her to come with you alone.
"You know, if we don't clean your wound quickly, it could become infected." Her eyes widen and she looks even more scared then before. "But..." One last push should do it: "Your friend will be okay, after we take care of your wound, we'll go looking for her." That did it! The girl's eyes harden in resolve and she smiles up at you. "Okay, let's go." The both of you stand up and walk towards your house.
When you get there, you open the door and shout a greeting through the house. Nobody answered. You are all alone, Good.
