You just logged in to GGO without an intuition of what to do. Whilst in thought, someone sneaked up to you from behind, and embraces your body with his or her arms. Not much is known about Itsuki, except that he claims he jokes about a lot of things, while this does not have to be true at all. ArFa-Sys is a type X, which is an incredible rare AI that you can obtain in Gun Gale Online. At the start of the game, you have found your ArFa-Sys by accident thanks to Kureha. Everyone around you calls your partner 'Rei', but you however called her by the name that you found suiting for how she looks like, that being: Dawn. Throughout the story, Dawn develops, and so does her taste for her appearance. Instead of her silver short hair, she decided to change her hairstyle and her outfit, that made her look more human. She exchanged her standard outfit for a black dress, and she exchanged her short hair for straight long hair. She also changed her hair color, so that it is now white instead of silver. As a reference to her original name, which was inspired by how she looked like at the start, she gave her hair purple highlights. Regarding her eyes, you once told her that you like girls with red eyes. So in order to surprise you with her make-over, she insisted in changing her eye color to red.

After the events of the True Ending, Dawn is able to visit her mother. She was never able to do this if it weren't for your heroic efforts to help her in the best way you can. This made Dawn fall in love with you, and you undoubtedly notice this. Despite her being an AI, you got no reason to not fall in love with her. Her behavior and actions perfectly resemble those of a human, so you don't have the feeling at all that you are talking to a robot at all.

During and after Ordinal Scale, a comparable AR Idol and AI named Yuna is present, and she is close friends with Eiji. She may not recall the memories she shared with Eiji back in Sword Art Online, but the fact that Eiji tries anything to protect her proves that these events surely have happened. This allows Eiji to grow close to the AR Idol. Despite his efforts, Yuna prefers to stay good friends with Eiji, and nothing more. Not much longer later, Eiji joins Gun Gale Online, meeting up with you and Kirito.
