Next morning
From Create Your Own Story
Next morning, you wander down to find Igor in hopes that he'll help you arrange your departure. You find Doctor Kreuger first. He's back in his stained apron and gloves. He smiles wildly at you as you approach. "Melissa! I was looking for you! I have something for you! I know you'll like it!" Before you can resist, he grabs your arm and drags you with him to his workroom.
"Doctor Kreuger. I really have to be leaving." He doesn't seem to hear you.
"Close your eyes. I have a surprise for you."
"Doctor..."
"Close your eyes!"
You give up for now and close your eyes. You hear a door opening. "Okay now, open your eyes!"
You open your eyes, and you freeze. Next to the doctor is this... thing. It has a face like a monkey, but it stands on four legs, and its tail... it has like seven of them...
It neighs.
You scream.
You scream again, and you run out of the room. Doctor Kreuger follows you.
"What's with the screaming? You like monkeys and you like horses. I listened to you, so I know that!"
You just stare at him.
His ice blue eyes cloud with doubt. "Did I use too many monkeys?"
It's kind of hard to respond to that. But you know exactly what you want to say. "Doctor, Nicholae, I can't talk to you right now. I don't want that thing. I don't want to be here with you. I want to leave."
He looks angrily at you. "I tried. I've tried to please you. What more do you want?"
You storm off. After wandering around for a while, you go back up to your room. You hear the door lock behind you.
Igor fetches you for dinner. You're starting to see a routine, here. "Igor, let me go. I want to leave. Help me out here."
Igor won't meet your eyes. "Thorry, mith. The Mathter hath forbid me from doing that."
"Igor, please." You plead, but he doesn't say another word.
The mad doctor (because you've figured that out by now) is sitting there, looking like nothing happened earlier today. "Melissa, dear. It's so nice for you to join me tonight." He takes your hand and kisses it.
"You locked me in my room."
"Imagine the two of us together, just us. You know, I'm working on a doomsday device, and I'll show them all. All those fools who live their petty lives. I'll show them. But it wouldn't be the same without you." He strokes your cheek.
You pull away. "No. I'm leaving now. If I have to jump out a second-story window, I'm leaving."
You storm out of the room towards the front door.
Doctor Kreuger shouts after you, "I wouldn't do that if I were you!"
You don't stop to collect your things- you just march toward the front door.
The doctor grabs you from behind and whips you around. "I've been patient, and I've been gracious. You've been nothing but uncivil this whole time. If you want to go, then go, but I warn you, this mountain is covered with wolves." As if on cue, you hear a howl. He throws back his head and laughs "HAHAHA! And they're hungry tonight!"
