You move your injured hand up, then down, then left and right. Each time, the cloud mimics the movement of your hand. You are now sure of it: there is a direct relationship between your injury and the cloud. This realization is not particularly comforting, however, as your hand continues to burn and you still haven't the slightest idea about what is going on.
