Playtime’s over. You press your fingers together and the blackness snaps away. The candles flicker smugly as if they never left. The Chief Mage freezes mid-stumble and straightens, brushing her robe flat.
“Cute,” is all she says, glaring at the spellbook still in your hands. You’re free to try something else – or not. You aren’t sure how thin her patience will wear.
