You are in front of your home. Your parents are inside, and have just kicked you out, telling you that you're too hard to raise in their home and are too old. You're merely wandering about, mainly stumbling, when you see a pool of water. Looking into it, you see...

- John Findel, a young Elven adult of fine knowledge, but little physical build
- Kriish Thlick, a fine, muscular desert lizard who makes even the humans swoon, but cannot even write
