You figure you'll test him once more.
You pull the crucifix out of your pocket and hold it up. Michael jumps and swears before turning his face away.
"So this bothers you, does it?" you ask innocently.
"Just a little." he answers weakly. "Can you put that thing away or at least stand back?"
You acquiesce to his request and put the symbol around your neck, tucking it under your shirt. Michael smiles at you mirthlessly. He's stopped shaking entirely now.
"So," he says "You should leave. That thing should protect you well enough. Only the strongest vampires would dare attack you while you're wearing that."
"What about you?" You ask. "I don't like leaving you here, and I don't know what I'm going to say to our boss."
"You'll think of something." he says.
