He may be completely insane, but you'd rather risk it here with him than with the wolves.
"Fine. I'll stay. But I'm leaving tomorrow, and you can't stop me."
He smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes. "I wouldn't dream of stopping you."
Back at the dinner table, Doctor Kreuger has gone back to staring at you. After a while, he excuses himself.
And eventually, you return yet again to your room. You hope it's for the last time, but you're starting to wonder if you'll ever be allowed to leave. This time, no one locks the door behind you. Good sign.
It takes you a long time to get to sleep, but finally you manage.
