You approach slyly and wait until you're close enough to surprise him to make your presence known.
"Hello there," You say. The cloaked man jumps a bit and turns around. He seems nervous enough to reach for a weapon. You hold your hands up.
"Calm down... If I wanted to strike you down, I wouldn't have warned you..."
He takes a few breaths and calms down. "Right right.. well, don't try anything funny..." he says, obviously referring to the two guards most likely behind the door. "What do you want?" he says as he lights up a lantern to illuminate the backstreets.
