You lift yourself to your feet, pulling her up with you, you begin dusting her off. Despite your attempt at chivalry, she merely shoots you a look, a look that would shake you to the core, if not for your history of being given and returning them. She tosses her weapons haphazardly and massages her wrists as she heads up the stairs. You can't help but notice how tight her trousers are, and how distractingly shapely....at the apex she turns around and blurts, "you coming or what?" And so you follow behind like an obedient dog, trying to keep your eyeballs above waist height.

You enter the corridor, closing the door behind you. The floor is decorated by a crimson colored floor-covering with odd symmetrical patterns on them, consisting of a material you can't quite put a finger on, it's lit by many candles mounted on the black painted wood-panelled walls. The girl removes her shoes, walks over to the box to your right and drops them in. "Dump your boots in here." She opens it and you reluctantly comply. The carpet feels strange, and yet pleasant under your bare, calloused feet. "I’ll take you to your room."

Down the corridor is in fact an unlit room, with beds surrounding a table and chairs. There must be about 20 people here, all close to your age, sleeping motionlessly and without sound. You wonder if they can also stop time. What other abilities are these strangers capable of? Why is there a home made specifically for people like you? She silently veers left and shifts swiftly to the end of the room to an unmanned bed. "This'll be where you'll be sleeping tonight. Training begins at dawn." She says softly. yet without the gentle tone that usually accompanies it. "If you have any questions, save them for later."

You look at your bed, and then you realize you have no idea who she is. You open your mouth to speak, turning your body to face hers, but the space where she once stood is filled by nothing but the air that you brought in when you foolishly decided to walk in through that front door. You are left with too many questions, so many you don't think it will be possible to sleep tonight.

Nevertheless...
