You look through your phone book and find Emily's address. It turns out she lives on the same street you do.
You walk the short distance to her house. By now, anyone that enters school is tardy. Emily's house has only one floor. You look through all the windows. You are surprised to see that Emily is in her room doing nothing in particular; mainly just laying in her bed and staring into space.
Her pillow looks damp as if she were crying. You aren't sure what to make of all this.
