The professor hands you each a bag of supplies that contains five Poke balls and six potions and some berries and stuff. He also hands you all Pokedex, a machine that records data from all Pokemon you obtain. the goal is to get the data of all Pokemon, and complete the Dex. Outside you send out your new Pokemon. "Pichu" it says glancing curiously at you. You don't know how this Pichu hasn't evolved. Pichu usually aren't native to this region. Oh well, good thing because Pickachu, their evolved forms, are aggressive and stubborn at first, and hard to train.
