You were an immortal being, and death always seemed a mere triviality to you. The ability to control souls or to keep a husk of flesh running without them wasn't easy for you to gain, but in the end, it was just another skill. To mortals, however, death had always been a taboo. The end of everything, the thing they feared the most. And you quickly learned there was no faster way to gain worshippers than showing your rule over it.

Of course, you couldn't simply raise the dead and expect them to go on as they did in life. Either they became soulless corpses, following around commands or their own primal urges, or if specific measures were taken, you could turn them into intelligent undead creatures, corrupted by the negative energy powering them. In either case, you often entertained yourself by granting the wishes of the mortals wanting to get their dead loved ones back to them.

The thought of perhaps doing something similar excited you.
