From Create Your Own Story

Emily looks down at the floor dejectedly while Randy nods, a slight smile forming on his face.

"Damn right we do. One problem, though. We ain't got no weapons. Sure, I could probably bust a head if I needed to, but you and Miss Certainty over there would probably be fucked. And Devin, no offense, you ain't any better off, I take it."

Devin raises his hands defensively, laughing at Randy's assessment. "None taken, man. You're probably right."

You expect Emily to stand up for herself, but she instead grins and shakes her head. "That's where you're wrong, Randy. We've got weapons. Right down the hall is the teacher's lounge. Know what's in there? Paper cutters. You get the arm of those things off and sharpen the blade, you've got yourself an acceptable makeshift machete. And I was a teacher's aide last year, so I can also safely tell you that we'd be better off in there."

Devin stands up, the sound of metal groaning with him as he wrenches a drawer from the teacher's desk free. Gripping it in both hands, he laughs and gives it a slow, exaggerated test swing.

"Got a weapon right here, Emily. But you should lead us to the lounge." He muses, stepping out from behind the desk and joining Randy near the door. You and Emily exchange glances, and she shrugs.

"Eh, he's got a point. Let's hope we're not the first to hit it."

Stepping out into the hall, the four of you swing left and let Emily lead. About halfway through, a gunshot rings out, echoing in the empty halls. For a second, you assume that you're dead, and by the looks on the faces of your companions, you weren't the only one expecting to have been hit. After a second of silence, the PA crackles to life.

"Was that a gun I heard? I haven't even given any sort of items to you and one of you already has a gun? Who the hell had a gun with them this morning? What were you even planning?!"

Somewhere, someone cheers and laughs.

"In any case, I think this is a wonderful time to give you all your first real chance at a gift! It's simple, really... kill whoever has that gun and you can keep it. No, that's not the gift. The gift is that I shall give you ammunition for it. Not much, but enough to make a difference. Have at it."

The cheering, laughing voice now falls silent. Either someone's already claimed them, or they're being smart and hiding for the time being. Either way, the four of you pile into the teacher's lounge.

As Emily locks the door behind you, Randy excuses himself to the paper cutters, wrenching the arm from it with a considerable display of strength. He looks displeased with the amount of plastic left on the tip of his new weapon, but he shrugs and drops it on the counter, tearing the arm from the second paper cutter, comparing the amount of plastic remains between the two. Upon finding them to be pretty much equal, he turns to you.

"Hey, Marissa. Catch."

He tosses an arm to you, and you do your best to catch it while avoiding the blade. You fumble and nearly drop it, but you manage to secure it and take a moment to get used to holding it in your right hand. It's not too heavy, luckily, and the blade itself is much sharper than you expected. Emily slips a pair of scissors into her pocket and opens various cabinets, searching fruitlessly for... something.

Before long, Devin asks if you've got any good ideas.

Search for the gunman. That gun could be invaluable.

Search for others. Cooperation is invaluable.
