Your best bet is to wait for them to pass by with no confrontation, you've decided. You think the time will come when you will need an alliance, but you don't know this Paul guy at all and it's been years since you really knew Heather. Maybe they aren't the best partners for you at this time.
You lay low, just watching them and making sure you are out of sight. It's a hot day, the sun is shinning bright with few clouds in the sky, so staying still and in the bushes is the best place to be right now anyway (except for these damn bugs flying around).
You notice that they are walking from west to east (as you are facing northeastern direction). As you watch them walk out of site you realize that they are about to cross into a danger zone, “did these idiots not look at there map” you think.
You can start after them and try to warn them if you want, maybe they will thank you and join up with you, or you can just wait for the explosion that will certainly happen soon.
