R: Ask your captor for sustenance

You shift towards the device and take hold.
"Hey! You there?!" You yell into the walkie talkie, hopefully this should annoy him.
After prolonged period, the voice finally replies, "Yeah.. What do you want?"
"What time is it outside?" He sounds as if he just woke up.
"H-hold on." You hear him roll back on his chair, "It's uhh, 4:30 in the morning. Anything else?"
"Yeah," You say looking upwards, "Can I please have some food?"
You hear a sudden burst of laughter at his end. What's so funny about someone asking another person for food? Then you remember that you're kidnapped and you're supposed to starve to death.
"You think I'm going to give you food? You must be joking! You're in there for a reason! To starve to death. What part of that don't you understand?"
The voice then continues with his maniacal laughter. Guess you won't be getting food. You probably shouldn't ask him for water either.
