You chose the right way.
You clamber through the narrow passageway seemingly forever, but suddenly it opens up into a void of light so bright your eyes hurt even when you roll yourselves into balls to shield them. One after another, you fall out into nothingness.
But what fresh and grassy nothingness it is!
"But what in the heavens are you doing?" you hear an old woman's voice.
It takes you several minutes before you dare open your eyes. You are in the neat kitchen garden of an old cottage, rolling around in black earth, cabbages and carrots. You can see you have rolled down a gentle hill where the strange cave spewed you out.
"You should be ashamed of yourselves!" a wrinkled old Granny scolds. "You should not be playing around. Think of your babies!"
You realize she is talking to the girls.
"Come inside!" she says and walks on unsteady legs. "You need hot soup."
