You seize your sword and bring it down on the Liber Mortis. The blow should have been mighty enough to cut the book clean in two, but the edge of your blade does not even scratch the cover. Dismayed, you prepare to strike again, but the book suddenly opens wide all by itself and screams. It is a horrid, piercing wail that threatens to deafen you. You panic and hit it over and over again with your sword, but the heavy tome seems impervious to your attacks.

Suddenly the book stops screeching, but you feel as if the temperature in the room has just dropped ten degrees. You turn around, blade raised high. A man is facing you. He is tall and slim, and he wears his long raven-black hair in a ponytail. His face is handsome but deathly white, and his eyes are red. He gives you a broad smile that shows all his fangs.

"I almost expected you to survive the destruction of your ship last night," he tells you amiably. "You are one of the most dangerous enemies I've ever had, and I knew that killing you would not be so easy. However, I did not think a man of your kind would be stupid enough to come aboard my own ship and try to destroy my book. I am disappointed in you, mortal."

You stare at him in confusion. You feel you have met him before, but you do not recall when and where. All you know for sure is that every muscle in your body commands you to swing your sword and chop his head off.

"I will make you an offer," the man continues. "Either you join me willingly, or I kill you and you join my undead army anyway."
